Raskin pointed to breaking news that occurred late Friday night. Attention was called to Herrera Beutler's conversation with McCarthy, where the minority leader allegedly recounted a conversation he had with President Trump. According to Herrera Beutler, McCarthy allegedly told Trump to "call off" the riots at the Capitol. The president allegedly said it wasn't his supporters who caused the chaos and violence at the Capitol.
"Needless to say, this is an additional, critical piece of corroborating evidence further confirming the charges before you, as well as the president's willful dereliction of duty," Raskin said before the vote. "For that reason, and because this is the proper time to do so under the [Senate impeachment rules], we would like the opportunity to subpoena congresswoman Herrera [Beutler] regarding her communications with [Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy] and to subpoena her contemporaneous notes."

Anyone remember when Harris and Biden called off the BLM riots last summer?
This isn’t a court of law, it’s a Senate shit show.
Clowns and Kabuki actors welcome...
We’re living in Fellini movie. The Capitol trespassers were not under the command of Donald J. Trump. It’s insanity to claim that he had an affirmative duty to tell them to stand down... when he has no authority over any of them. He can no more command them than he can command the pandas in the Beijing Zoo.
Because in the middle of a speech he was supposed to stop and make a tweet to the Antifa terrorists to stand down, and they would? DC is clearly in an alternate reality.
So, is this plan X or Y to get rid of Trump. Wouldnt they have to have a new articles of impeachment?

Why not skip the hearsay and go strait to the horses mouth: McCarthy?
Multiple hearsay. Not to mention that her statement has been available for over a month. Why didn’t the House Managers present her statement in the case in chief?
Sounds like President Trump spoke the truth. Why that would justify impeachment I have no idea.
And if he had “commanded them” the Dems would be using that to “prove” that Trump was responsible for their actions.
EXACTLY RIGHT. liberals are scum. No matter what he had done, they would argue it was proof of guilt. The couldn’t accept objective facts if they wanted to because they are blinded by pure hatred
So happy I left the GOP and the likes of Kevin McCarthy and this *itch.
So the “evidence” that they want admitted is an out of court statement by a Democratic congresscritter that another congresscritter told her what Trump supposedly said on the phone?
Interesting trial tactic for the prosecution to try immediately before closing arguments are set to begin: “We never conducted any discovery, so we want to take some depositions now.”
OK, so Dems want to convict Trump of ‘incitement of insurrection’ by pointing out something he didn’t do.
One is tempted to respond with sarcasm and mockery.
Herrera Beutler was one of the 10 GOP Representatives that voted along with Liz Cheney to impeach Trump.
So there is no surprise here.
The Senate just stipulated that Herrera Beutler’s recall of her conversation with Kevin McCarthy will be admitted into evidence.
Why didn’t Kevin order them to stop? 👮
Mustang Medic, a YouTuber reporting on Capitol news, said while he was attending the speech, CELL SERVICE WAS TURNED OFF...JAMMED DURING PRESIDENT’S SPEECH. He and no one around him had cell service. And he said he also confirmed with Federal officials the cell phones are jammed when President is speaking.

Not sure how far boundaries of the jamming extend; however if that is the case, how could President have tweeted a message to the insurgents (who were already at the capital during his speech) to stop?
Bttt.
