Disney Amongst Potential Mass Exodus of Businesses From California(It's a Small World After All)

Individuals fleeing from liberal states to those with conservative leadership such as Texas and Florida are being joined by mega-companies, such as Disney. Florida’s chief financial officer Jimmy Patronis explains the simplicity behind the phenomenon: lower taxes make the Sunshine State more attractive for businesses.

Speaking to “Fox & Friends First” Patronis said, “Disney already has a proven track record here” and moving its California operations to Florida will “allow them to grow and expand their business.” Patronis’ comments came after Disney publicly considered moving its theme parks from California to Florida due to the struggle to re-open under California leadership.

Disney is one of the latest “in a growing number of companies considering moving some or all of their operations out of California, which has some of the strictest lockdown measures in the country” reports Fox Business. Siting California Governor Gavin Newsom, specifically, Patronis said “Newsom is nonresponsive. Businesses are fleeing his state.”

California has the nation’s highest income tax rate at 13.3%; combine that with devastating and unending lockdowns during the coronavirus pandemic, businesses are fighting for survival. “Eventually when you’re not appreciated, hopefully enough is enough,” said Patronis.

Tax rates are just one piece of the puzzle that has contributed to Florida’s strong financial record, making a move very palatable. Not only does Florida have “a really good FICO credit score,” said Patronis, but it is a safe place to develop a business with “49 consecutive years of declining violent crime rates.”

Disney has far fewer people now to relocate.

The notion of fleeing the Once-Golden-State appeals to Minnie businesses, and is not Goofy at all.

What I have not been able to figure out is why these major companies support Democrats? Is Sacramento immune to listening to their large donors?

It is clear that Newsome is hurting the states economy for political purposes. At first I thought it was just to help defeat the ORANGE man but why keep the lock down going with their man in the White House and they control both houses?

Anyone have an idea why Democrat controlled states are doing this (and I know it is not because of the virus)?

Florida should impose many restrictions before allowing a Disney-type company to bring additional contagion into the state.

Disney should have to renounce its corporate culture and apologize.

I hate it every time I read about people going from Leftist states to conservative states. They are just spreading their cancer to clean bodies.

Don’t come to Florida. We already got one too many of those abominations.

What a humiliation for the state’s past and current leaders,
if Disneyland were to relocate.

Whew!

Commiefornia here we come...

NOT...

...right back where we started from...

"Disney publicly considered moving its theme parks from California to Florida due to the struggle to re-open under California leadership."

This sentence is hilarious. Envisioning Disneyland and Cal Adventure simply boxed up and moved to Florida, where duplicates of everything already exist.

Texas would be interesting but unfortunately would cater to the horde. Dubai would be interesting but you'd eventually lose the properties to a revolution.

If Disneyland were to stay closed, thousands of people will be out of a job and not just those that work at the park, but those that work in the surrounding community.

I’m surprised that large firms like Disney didn’t decide long ago to set up theme parks on Indian reservations like the casinos. They could add in medical tourism as well.

Oh I do too! Sleepy little town full of citrus groves.

Saw a documentary on pbs once about Orlando bringing DW to town. They interviewed every council member that was still alive that voted for it AND the mayor at the time.....everyone of them said if I knew then what I know now there’s NO WAY is let DW come to Orlando. They gave up so many concessions, tax breaks and tons of land just to convince ‘em to build there.....what a freakin’ mistake.

If I may venture a guess?

Without actually saying this would apply to any given politician, would a malignant sociopath willingly give up making the lives of his/her/its serfs miserable?

I think it’s a power trip pure and simple.

That said, after the inauguration, all of the most egregiously locked down states started loosening. If they release all at once, it looks bad.

In my own state, Her Magniloquence, Empress Gretchen loosened restrictions, and now is allowing restaurants to open to 25% capacity. She’s also trying to launch bloat programs to undo at least some of the damage done. She can’t have the state in such a wreck when elections roll around next year. She and hers may have helped Biden, but now she has outlived her usefulness...

We’ve been to DW, MGM, Universal and Sea World many times over the years and every time I’m amazed at how big and crowded the Orlando area has gotten............

They are talking about theme park management and groups like Imagineering that would move to Florida. There are thousands of employees in that business segment.
