Biden plans to ask Congress this month to invest heavily in infrastructure amid studies showing close to half of U.S. roads are in poor or mediocre condition and more than a third of U.S. bridges need repair, replacement or significant rehabilitation.
The focus on infrastructure signals Biden, a Democrat, will seek to prioritize some policy areas that appeal to both parties, after his $1.9 trillion COVID-19 aid package winds its way through Congress in coming days without significant Republican support.
"There are not many Republican or Democratic roads and bridges," Biden said ahead of the meeting. "I really, honest to God, never have thought of ... infrastructure as being a partisan issue," he added.
A Republican, Trump in 2018 unveiled an infrastructure plan that proposed spending $200 billion over 10 years to spur $1.5 trillion in largely private sector infrastructure spending but Congress never voted on it.

Every new incoming prez there's the big "infrastructure payback", taxpayer funded money laundering scheme, for congress and the new administration to pay back their buddies.
You mean like they did with the $4 trillion they spent under Obama for shovel ready jobs?
High speed stagecoach?
Trump tried to do this but both Democrats and Repubulcians didn’t want to give him any credit for passing it so they punted.
Wait a dang minute!
I thought the Kenyan Usurper fixed all that with his handy dandy infrastructure bill.
All those shovel ready jobs.
All those nice Obamby signs along the highways.
infrastructure means roads, bridges, and airports.
here’s the problem; it won’t be true infrastructure, it will be a steaming mount everest of green energy giveaways, destruction of the fossil fuel industry, payoffs to labor bosses (who are already PO’ed about the keystone), and subsidies to urban disaster areas that by all rights ought to fail, so they can finally be rebuilt properly.
for example, BHO didn’t save the auto industry. it would have survived bankruptcy. he saved the UAW; it would not have survived the bankruptcy of the auto industry.
Shovel ready jobs aren’t really shovel “ready”.
but lobbyists and their sponsors will make billions which will trickle down to organized labor.
Good idea. Biden is a prime example of a “decrepit U.S. infrastructure”.

This isn’t about “bridges and highways”
This is about Obama’s trillion dollar high speed rail project that leads all roads to Chicago.
And every hole/trench, tunnel will be dug by hand from here on in...no diesel for those “pollution monsters.
shovel ready speeches to shovel more speeches
What do we need those silly roads for anyway?
The Democrats plan is to have us fly around on shiny green colored Unicorns.
Infrastructure is their magic word. They say it and a horse whinnies...
You beat me to it. What about all those shovel-ready jobs? Was the work that low quality?
Hitler (not praising him) built an autobahn system that was not in need of replacement until the 1980’s, almost half a century afterward.
“Repairing roads and bridges” = multimile long detours for months on enc, coupled with much higher gas prices.
Been there, done that with Ă˜bama.
Welcome to Bidenistan!
We have a local bridge in our area that has been closed and under construction since the Obama “shovel ready” days.
The only work I have ever seen done there was when they put up the “do not enter—under construction” sign. There is one sign on each side of the bridge—still there.
Some of us “conspiracy theory right wing extremist” types think the construction money was stolen back in the day...
What for?
Obama fixed it with his $800billion stimulus.
Clinton did the “roads and bridges” thingy too. The commies don’t think we have memories while doing their public relations crap.
