Former President Donald Trump's attorneys said on Monday that the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol was perpetrated by people “of their own accord and for their own reasons,” and not because of Trump’s call to march on Congress and “fight like hell.”
In a 78-page legal brief ahead of the Senate’s impeachment trial, Trump’s attorneys argued the House’s effort is constitutionally deficient and cannot result in his conviction on a charge of inciting the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol. They say Democrats declared Trump’s free speech impeachable and linked it to what the attorneys say is a years long effort to punish him.....
Democrats intend to lean heavily on the evidence collected in FBI affidavits charging hundreds of Capitol insurrectionists, many of whom cited Trump’s comments as tacit permission to storm the Capitol. Though Trump’s team notes that some elements of the insurrection were planned ahead of Trump’s Jan. 6 speech, urging a crowd of thousands to march on the Capitol, Democrats have contended Trump’s pattern of conduct for months — baseless claims that the election was stolen from him — created the conditions that led to the riots.

If affidavits are good enough for impeachment, than they are good enough to prove election fraud.
I was going to say the same thing if they are leaning heavily on these can’t Trump simply say well I have my own to prove election irregularities? This case almost seems to easy
Aren’t they going to go into the election fraud? The Dem’s Complaint says there was no fraud and that Trump incited violence by falsely claiming that there was. So, aren’t Trump’s people going to prove otherwise?

When I read someone call a riot an “insurrection” i know whatever they saying is just noise.
Let’s say the Tampa Bay team demanded that the Kansas City team be thrown out of the NFL. Would the Tampa Bay fans think that was proper?

I have read that the FBI has found evidence of advance planning by Proud Boys and Oath Keepers and other "right wing extremist" groups. Evidence of what? invading the Capitol? Meeting up with others from different states? So far no indication that The FBI has even looked for any evidence of advance planning by antifa, etc.
There was a website before the event sponsored by a group called "Shut Down DC." They were very orgainzed. It is possible that many who came to DC on Jan. 6 organized in advance in case they had trouble just getting back to their cars or hotels due to the "Shut Down DC" types. It had happened before.

For every single question asked this week - I assume they’ll make it last the week - the defense should merely play the video of his remarks that day - OVER and OVER and OVER. That should be the answer and the ONLY ANSWER to their questions. If limited to 5 minute answers, then play the video 5 minutes at a time...next question - the next 5 minutes etc. etc.
