The list would have been pages long if they’d listed everything that needed to be listed. Had to cut it off somewhere. LOL

Many of the songs that belong on “Radio Hell” came from the 70’s...
‘Never Been To Me’- Charlene
‘Muskrat Love’- Captain and Tenille
‘Seasons In The Sun’-Terry Jacks
‘Afternoon Delight’- Starland Vocal Band
I’m sure there are more, but my mind has blocked them so I can’t drive myself insane.
Any further suggestions?

Wanna hear something worse. My mom bought THAT pattern ..... for me. LOL! I had the long-sleeve version, though not that horrid yellow checked fabric.

and which Elton John song has to go? (I’d go for “Levon”, “Border Song” or “Tiny Dancer”)"Island Girl", that really signalled the beginning of the end for Elton, although "Sorry Seems to Be The Hardest Word", I consider his last great song.

Did you ever hear Elton's 8 minute long Disco version of Johnny B. Goode from the "Victim of Love"(1979) album? He had a rough patch at the end of the 70's. Dreadful, that's when he wore that crazy Duck Suit in concert. Cocaine is a helluva drug.
He really missed Bernie Taupin those years.

A lot of New Wave seemed like novelty acts. If you want to point to 70's music that aimed at the 80's what about "Hooked on a Feeling" with Gotcha-Gow-Gow-Gow, Gotcha-Gow, ...?
To: luvie
All of them. J/K :)

"Island Girl", that really signaled the beginning of the end for Elton
And yet it skyrocket to #1. The follow up, "Grow Some Funk of Your Own" was weak, and the B-Side "I Feel Like a Bullet (in the Gun of Robert Ford)" actually got more airplay. But you are right, for an album that debuted at #1 (matching "Captain Fantastic and the Brownb Dirt Cowboy") it did not have staying power. "Blue Moves" confirmed that the reformulated band was a big mistake. The chemistry wasn't there.

You are exactly right. All of these songs put us at a place in time.
Love em’ or hate em’ they are memory markers.
