LOL! I’m not sure I didn’t have THAT one. I love that graphic! They were very hard to work with. :)

Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding, is definitely one of the greatest rock songs of all time.

Elton had the best band in the world, backing him at that time.

With Elton, the good is really good, but the bad is really bad.

He really missed Bernie Taupin those years.

The "Victim of Love" album was done largely done to fulfill the record contract with MCA. Not only ar ethe songs ALL covers, but EJ doesn't even bother to play any keyboards. The album is done with no break between songs, so I just imagine a strung out Elton John popping into the studio, singing his part in two takes (one for Side 1, a short break, and one for side 2), and left the studio for Pete Velotte (sp?) and company to finish up..

There were some okay non Taupin songs on "21 at 33", "A Single Man" and "The Fox" during that period. in fact, I got Casey Kasem to play one of them as a Long Distance Dedication on American Top 40. I believe that request holds the record for the lowest charting song to be played as a Long Distance Dedication (Don't Ya Wanna Play this Game No More [Sartorial Eloquence] only made it to #39.

What’s the one that went something like, “My Name is Michael, I’ve got a nickle...”

If you want to point to 70's music that aimed at the 80's what about "Hooked on a Feeling" with Gotcha-Gow-Gow-Gow, Gotcha-Gow, ...?

Yes. "My Sharona" by the Knack would be another example.

“Empty Garden” for John Lennon after his murder was a good song, too.

That is very true. The 70s just couldn’t compete with the 60s.

I will listen to songs on the oldies station that takes me back to a swimming pool in 1972.

I don’t care what it is.
