Trump isn’t trying to knife the GOP. That may or may not be the side effect, but clearly he must really 100% believe the steal really happened if he is going to use that as his defense. That’s big. The whole Senate circus is unconstitutional. If Trump uses the event to show the world his supporter’s view of how the election was illegally conducted, he loses nothing except some time, effort and money for lawyers. If they convict him and try to bar him from future activities , the SC will not uphold it. Trump has bet big before, he has lost before, and he will proceed as he wants to, regardless of threats from his own party. In the end, everyone involved with this absurdity will have to publicly make a stand.
