The Center for Disease Control has issued a new coronavirus order requiring DOUBLE masks to be worn for all forms of public transportation in the United States.
From CNN:
The CDC announced an order late Friday that will require people to wear a face mask while using any form of public transportation, including buses, trains, taxis, airplanes, boats, subways or ride-share vehicles while traveling into, within and out of the US.
The order goes into effect at 11:59 p.m. Monday.
Masks must be worn while waiting, boarding, traveling and disembarking, it said. The coverings need to be at least two or more layers of breathable fabric secured to the head with ties, ear loops or elastic bands — and scarves and bandanas do not count, the order says.
The CDC said it reserves the right to enforce the order through criminal penalties, but it “strongly encourages and anticipates widespread voluntary compliance” and expects support from other federal agencies to implement the order.

It is a complete misrepresentation to claim that CDC is requiring two masks. If you bother to check, most publically available masks have two or more layers. For example:

All this CDC guidance does is prohibit masks made out of t-shirts - of only one layer.
Fauci is fighting to stay relevant now that one of the MSM’s biggest tasks is to separate COVID from the president after almost a year of linking the two.

My intrepretation is that the mask must have 2 or more layers of cloth on it, not wearing 2 actual masks. Most commerical masks advertise 3 layer of cloth, thus meet the CDC requirement. The cheaper disposable paper masks have 2 layers.
I object to this latest Dictat by the CDC. And I’m beginning to be convinced that the wearing of masks is irrelevant.
Couldn’t see that one coming.

It doesn’t say 2 masks. It says coverings with at least 2 layers. The neck gaiters and bandanas and cheap coverings that a good share of people wear will not count. I am not saying “masks work” but if you are going to say “wear ‘em” they ought to be of some quality other than lady’s hosiery.
Will two layers of cloth (like most people have) contain the smell of a fart?

Saw a pix of a couple of virtue signaling Democrats at the inauguration who were wearing double masks. And I predict that it will become a new requirement — double masks. This whole thing has been a joke and has little to do with science.
Anyway, as you mention, each of those 2 masks were effectively 2 masks each. So that makes 4 masks. How about 3 masks, or 4. Four is better. I raise you 4 masks.
Yet there is zero evidence that public transport is a major source of Wuhan Virus infections spreading.
Sounds like a great thing for Barney fife to enforce.

The order reads “should be” not “shall” so one is not subject to any enforcement if the mask is just single layer and tied by other means.
Oh and it will not stop the spread of a VIRUS again a Virus.

Most of us would.
We live on a dog legged culdesac. Our home is on the first leg and is on a fairly level area about 220’ elevation as measured by my portable Garmin GPs.
Then, the next 200+ yards the elevation goes to 490’+.
So if you are walking, running or riding a bike, you need to be in good shape to get from our level to the nearly 500’ level.
3 years ago during our big forest fire and heavy smoke, I was told to wear a N95 mask when walking (my daily exercise).
Wearing the mask wiped me out about 1/3 of the way up.
Since then, we try to warn mask wearers heading up hill to be careful.
It is usually windy and there is zero need for any mask.
Worse of all it has no end date. So expect this to go on until at least 2024.
