House Democrats plan to walk the impeachment charge against former President Donald Trump to the Senate on Monday evening, but multiple members of the GOP in the Upper Chamber have already come out against holding a trial.
The Epoch Times reported Monday, 29 GOP senators have spoken out against holding a trial, arguing it is unconstitutional to try to convict a former office holder, or a waste of time.

21 Left, sheesh, how pathetic.
The commies only need 17.
29 + ses
I hope they convict in the Senate, with Leahy as “judge” while Roberts skips the trial. Far too many on the right believe that somehow what’s proper legally and constitutionally will prevail. This was my worse nightmare from a year ago, which sadly has become all too real.
many of the 21 want to be bought off. Any pork coming down the pike?
No sorry, not Puppie Pork!
Sorry, we will take the Dem pork instead!
No Mitch McConnell on that list.
RE: Epoch Times: 29 GOP Senators Oppose Trump Trial
Not a good sign. That means there’s potentially 17 or more Senators who could convict Trump.
The whole thing is a farce and everyone knows it. This says more about the state of the GOP than anything else.
Richard Shelby of AL is NOT on that list . . . seething, white hot anger!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sen. Patrick Leahy To Preside Over Trump's Senate Impeachment Trial
There was another story claiming Republican Senators want a secret ballot.
8 of them are up in 22’. I assume they’re running. I assume Shelby, crapo will call it a career rather than face the music. That’s 10 others up in22’(gop). Some will stick it to him on the way out. Toomey, Burr, Portman come to mind. The last group have their wet finger in the wind or may not care. Murkowski, and a NUMBER of others.
“No Mitch McConnell on that list.”
Moribund Mitch is in his “leadership” position because his GOP colleagues vote him there. He isn’t removed because they don’t vote him out.
If they vote to convict, the new party must form immediately. Trump as the party leader, Pompeo runs for office in 2024.
Get many candidates in the House in 2022 if there is a way to stop Dominion machines.
Chief Justice Roberts says he will not preside over this “trial,” and the Constitution says the CJ “shall” preside over the Senate trial. “Shall” legally means CJ presiding is not optional, it’s mandatory.
So now these spiteful idiots appoint angry senile Leaky Leahy to be the presiding impartial “judge?”
Are these hateful Democrats on LSD or crystal meth? WTH is wrong with them? I knew they were evil deranged lunatics before this, but they’re really outdoing themselves this time.
Too bad they didn’t oppose certifying Mr. Potato Head to the Oval Office.
The trial is fine, since it gives Trump the chance to finally make his case (in fact, it’s the only way to even publicly discuss voter fraud, since our new masters took over. The only real question is whether 17 of the 21 remaining Republicans will choose to vote themselves out of a job.
That’s a bit bunch for the Democrats to try to take control over, especially considering how they’re otherwise being treated now that Dems run the place (thanks again, Lin Wood, by the way).
Red state governors might be able to appoint a successor to finish out terms for those up in 22’. Some(many) should quit now. Become an incumbent. There’s 20 of them. Start with Portman(Jordan).
I'm not sure Burr will drop out. He'll likely change his mind before the election. Tillis just got his ticket punched for another 6 years, so he probably thinks we'll all forget by then. He barely squeaked by this time to a serial philanderer. You'd think he'd be able to count.
Either way, I'm so finished with the both of them. I'd rather a Dem get the seats than either one.
Remember those seats are gone for 6 years. Ga. and az. we can get back-perhaps.
