Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser told “Just the News” on Friday that the Democratic-led Senate and House will vote in favor of statehood for the District of Columbia and send the bill to President Joe Biden’s desk, who has expressed support for D.C. statehood in the past.
Bowser said, “The nation’s capital, the federal enclave, continues to exist as the nation’s capital and everything outside of those new boundaries becomes the 51st state. Our congresswoman – we had our first successful vote on statehood in the House of Representatives last year. She reintroduced the bill. She has a record number of sponsors.”

Why did the PR folks turn it down?
I looked at the demographics (very poor) and it appears they would be way ahead with stuff like food stamps, earned income credit, etc?
Wisconsin would work great as three separate, ‘states.’
Those of us that produce food and make stuff and fend for ourselves can EASILY live without Dane and Milwaukee Counties. They can be cute little Mini-States; each, ‘Twenty Square Miles Surrounded by Reality!’
Of course, they’d still find SOME way to make life a Socialist HELL for the rest of us. *SPIT*
They already get those benefits without paying.
The two years leading up to the midterm elections will be a whirlwind of leftist legislation.
They’ll push the envelope quickly...knowing their chances of holding the house and or the senate are getting slim.
Hold on tight, it’s gonna be a hell of a ride.
I believe the financier of the Revolution, Robert Morris, went broke on DC land speculation.
“Under the terms of its admission, Texas can divide itself into 5 states.”
____________________________________________________________________________
That may well be, however, Texas will need a full R gubmint (House, Senate, POTUS) to split...
If these lying, cheating bastards admit DC and PR, dismiss the filibuster, and stack SCOTUS...it will mean...%$&...
You are correct.
Why is no one apparently aware of this? It hardly comes up.
Partly ignorance, and maybe partly the disdain for the Constitution by the Dem powers.
The U.S. capitol was first in Philadelphia. Sane national politicians determined that local politics had an unfair influence on national politics. They moved the capitol to a non-state area specifically so that it would not influence national politics.
In Texas we have one senator for every 14 million people. Muriel wants one senator for every 0.35 million people.
The most recent referendum in Puerto Rico took place in November, with 52% voting “yes” to statehood to 48% voting “no”.
DC is another matter. The Constitution does not allow statehood in this case, but then, the Democrats disregard the Constitution when doing so fits their agenda.
We carved Washington out of Maryland and Virginia. If D.C. politicians want statehood then shouldn’t D.C. be returned to the states it was taken from?
Yep they will. Puerto Rican Nationalists won't be happy.
Let’s name the new state Fort Custer.
That's probably the biggest obstacle for the Democrats. Joe Biden and his wife would have 3 electoral votes if DC becomes a new state because the remaining federal land is still the federal district unless we change the 23rd amendment which will not be happening.
This assumes the Senate abandons the filibuster for all legislation.
Which they might.
But it is not a forgone conclusion.
So now a single city is allowed to have two senators, the same as entire states.
What would they be paying as a US state that they aren’t paying now?
Have to belive this c-— wants to be one of the two senators. Cush job for life.
The Constitution prohibits making D.C. a state:
Article I, section 8, clause 17:
“Congress shall have the power...To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings”
I read earlier today that the Dems have a “shrinkage” plan, where they reduce the land area that will remain the official Capitol to something like just the White House, National Mall and Congressional buildings. Then, carve off everything else as the “New DC” and make it a state.
This apparently, at least according to twisted ‘Rat thinking, gets them around the pesky Constitutional requirements that would otherwise stand in their way.
That said, even the Constitution doesn’t seem to protect us any longer. Roberts is obviously compromised, and SCOTUS has become a total and complete joke - even WITH our 3 new Justices.
So it would no longer be ‘District of’ but the ‘State of’ Columbia? I doubt they’ll want to keep that name? Why aren’t there daily riots to change the name of the district over hatred for the famed explorer?
