The Constitution prohibits making D.C. a state:

Article I, section 8, clause 17:

“Congress shall have the power...To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings”

I read earlier today that the Dems have a “shrinkage” plan, where they reduce the land area that will remain the official Capitol to something like just the White House, National Mall and Congressional buildings. Then, carve off everything else as the “New DC” and make it a state.

This apparently, at least according to twisted ‘Rat thinking, gets them around the pesky Constitutional requirements that would otherwise stand in their way.

That said, even the Constitution doesn’t seem to protect us any longer. Roberts is obviously compromised, and SCOTUS has become a total and complete joke - even WITH our 3 new Justices.
