I did not expect the fun to begin this early.
Georgia voters assumed that they would receive an aggregate of $2600, $600 from the prior Congress and $2000 from the current Congress.
Oops.

More evidence that McConnell was the reason the Repubs lost Georgia in the runoff. Not approving the $2000 checks. And yes, I know we’re $27 trillion in debt. But the low info dems don’t know that. Print, print, print.

This is squarely at the feet of McConnell. They were about to pass the $2000 amount (bipartisan) when McConnell suddenly announced that he wouldn’t do it and he had his own plan. This was just a couple of days before the election.
Needless to say, the Dems took to the air in Georgia and flooded the state with messages that said “Vote Dem, get $2000.”
So of course that’s what people did. The GOP candidates were actually a little ahead before that.
This is not to debate the merits of the $2000 payment, but the time had passed for that, it was a done deal, and McConnell (intentionally, I think) sabotaged it and the GOP was blamed. He had to have known what the result would be.

Can’t fix stupid..... they do not understand 600 + 1400 = 2000. Of course no politician explained it so let them think it was an additional $2,000, good for our side.
Both men narrowly won hard-fought races against Republican incumbents in the Peach State, winning control of the Senate for the Democrats in the process.
And purported with the optics by this breathless reporting blurb to have been an overall win win.
