Another lesson to be learned is that the GOP can't take Trump voters for granted. There's an upside and a downside to that, for sure.
The author completely overlooked the fact that Lin Wood sabotaged the Georgia Senate runoff elections because he was a Doug Collins supporter who was butt-hurt over Loeffler's appointment to fill that seat temporarily a year ago.

We’ve seen this movie before. The GOPe did what they always to do defeat a conservative they don’t like: collude with progressive Democrats to defeat a fellow Republican.

He was rewarded in some non obvious way. If he had kept the Senate, he could have extracted a lot of gold for passing the agenda. Mitch gave that up, there has to be a considerable financial reward we aren’t seeing.
And the nation lost Trump because of it as well.
Simple facts are sometimes hard for the brain-dead analysts to absorb.
Mitch is as happy as a little girl now, all the perks with none of the responsibility, it’s the Republican Way.
They had trucks with electronic signs on them saying if you vote rat you’ll get 2k.
Was that even legal? Not that it matters anymore.

You are spot on! Also, even if the Democrats nominated an awful candidate, the party leadership will still strongly support him or her. They want to win.
If the Republicans nominate a poor candidate, the party leadership will provide little or no support. They don’t want to win.
