House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's lectern, seen being carried off in the Capitol riot in a photo that went viral, has been returned.
Pelosi was expected use it to speak after Wednesday's vote to impeach President Donald Trump for "incitement of insurrection."
Los Angeles Times staff photographer Kent K. Nishimura tweeted that an aide said "Yes, it’s THE lectern," as it was being set up.
Adam Johnson, 36, of Parrish, Florida, allegedly stole Pelosi's lectern during the riot. He was arrested after federal investigators said he was the man seen smiling in photos carrying the lectern through the Capitol Rotunda.
Johnson has been charged with "one count of knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority; one count of theft of government property; and one count of violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds," according to U.S. Attorney's office. He was released on $25,000 bond Monday.
Federal investigators said Senate staff found the lectern the day after the riot. It has an approximate value of $1,000.

Yet they couldn’t care less about the thousands of small business owners whose life savings went up in a cloud of smoke at the hands of Pantifa.
I thought they took her laptop?
Laptop? Not returned.
"conservative98": Where’s they find it? Where’s the proof it even left the building? How come there’s no photos of it being carried outside the Capitol building? If her staffers found it, it didn’t go very far and likely never left.
Good point. Was it ever really stolen, or just moved?
It is “A Lectern”....not Nancy’s Lectern.
That was a different guy
Are you saying he didn't intend to steal the podium? Then why did he walk off with it?
Not overly smart on his part.
This is more like grabbing a bag of chips at the store, carrying the bag to a different aisle, and leaving it there among rolls of toilet paper and packs of paper plates rather than go to the trouble of putting it back in the snack aisle.
So are you saying his intent was to move the podium from one side of the room to another side where he thought it looked better? Really?
Claiming it was anything more based on just this info, is not going to be provable beyond a shadow of doubt
I imagine he's going to find out whether it is or isn't.
Even less on the list of importance.
I mean I get this is govt property but this is kind of not very newsworthy, imho.
Next big news item: Nancy’s pencil returned!
He took the podium. The fact that he didn't make it out of the Capitol with it doesn't mean he didn't steal it. As the prosecutor will have no problem proving.
Exactly.
If you were there illegally and took the chair then I expect they'll be able to charge you with theft, or at least attempted theft, regardless of whether you make it out of the building or not.
I would have preferred seeing her carried off.....to the banks of the Potomac for starters and then rolled down the bank for a swim...Heck - even the Reflecting Pool would have been ok.
I assume they have the broom?
You are exactly right. We spend $700 billion a year on “national defense,” and the U.S. Capitol was taken over in five minutes by a bunch of clowns who were less hostile and violent than a bunch of English soccer fans.
GMTA !
I hope they smeared it with COVID virus.
>>Federal investigators said Senate staff found the lectern the day after the riot.
Sounds like a robbery gone wrong then. Did he even leave with it at all?
Is moving it from one room to another now a crime?
“you TOUCHED it! MAAaaaaaaawwww! He TOUCHED it!!!!”
overcharged
