My question as well. When I got fired for some BS excuse (the real reason being was because I had a lot of accumulated vacation time which was attractive to steal), I took their little phony excuse paper, partially ripped it and walked out the door.

The ex-boss followed me and told me he needed the paper back for their files. I turned around, glowered at him and said "come and get it!"
