Becky Harper sobbed as she spoke to a Missouri dispatcher after stumbling across her expectant daughter in a pool of blood, her womb slashed open and the child she had been carrying missing.
“It’s like she exploded or something,” Harper told the dispatcher on Dec. 16, 2004, during the desperate yet futile attempt to get help for her daughter, Bobbie Jo Stinnett, who had been eight months pregnant.
Lisa Montgomery, who strangled Stinnett with a rope before performing a crude cesarean and fleeing with the baby, awaits execution Tuesday, just eight days before the presidential inauguration of death penalty opponent Joe Biden. If the lethal injection is carried out as scheduled at the Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute, Indiana, Montgomery would be the first woman executed by the federal government in about six decades. Montgomery drove about 170 miles from her Melvern, Kansas, farmhouse to the northwest Missouri town of Skidmore under the guise of adopting a rat terrier puppy from Stinnett, a 23-year-old dog breeder.

This woman needs to die for the crime she committed.

A similar crime happened about 25 years ago, just two miles from my house. It was a horrific crime. And, yes, it was in Illinois, about 30 miles west of Chicago.
Amazing that the baby lived.

Skidmore, MO is the small town where the local town bully was shot to death in broad daylight in front of dozens. The killers have never been identified. This was 40 years ago.
I really, really have to object to the horrible timing of this execution.
This murderous piece of sub-human debris should have been shot in the forehead years ago. JMHO.

The implication is that Biden would spare her, or that the writer thinks he should? There aren’t many death penalty crimes worse than this.

Joe Biden stands with those who treat women horribly. So much for a mother’s right to choose.
And Bernie Sanders thinks such terrible people should be allowed to cast votes for Democrats.
