Not everyone but the number of companies who have critical infrastructure and data in the cloud is shocking (Microsoft, Amazon and Google) own so much of this space it’s quite sad. Companies don’t have vision.
And we'll get to you sometime after Independence Day. Trump has been taking up all of our time, you know.
I read in another FR thread that parler’s lawyers all quit. But Algonquin J. Calhoun will take their money.
The rule of law has been reduced to one question. Does it help or hurt Trump? This lawsuit is somewhere at the bottom of Bezos’ trash can.
> What is the legal argument of Amazon and others? Look at some of the websites they host.....
Yep, there is soooooo much wild stuff out there hosted by Amazon. They have no way to say that they scrupulously enforce their terms of service.
Who?
Could Parler argue dissimilar treatment/enforcement if Amazon uses the contractual language to defend booting Parler.
Other clients do far worse than what Amazon is alleging Parler did.
There is a bright side to this. All the loved ones and friends who thought I was paranoid don't any more...
Under fascist theory...the Courts as a part of the government - a branch - will want to continue to operate, so it must rule favorably to the government’s position and follow the edicts of the fascist government.
Should a judge do otherwise he/she will be targeted and removed and the ruling will be corrected higher up the line.
Everything now must be understood according to fascist philosophy.
Standard left tactic: court shop or appeal until you get to a lefty judge who knows the appellate court above them will let the lower court ruling stand.
If you don’t think they have a court system battle map, you’re wrong.
Not you “you,” but generic “you.”
Let’s hope they win something pretty big and the old law firm Parler had can live with their cowardice the rest of their lives.
FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION. As in, we reserve the right to do business with whoever we wish to.
I realize that not all beasts are equally yoked in the US, but it seems there are many cases that address similar concerns. While “freedom” has not won them all at the lower court level, I would argue that most were clear and direct victories for the constitution at the appellate level.
Courts are far more antiseptic than the media hysteria we are now witnessing.
Remember..... “consent of the governed”. America is a difficult nation to govern by design and while we are witnessing extra-constitutional activities, the whole purpose of our courts are to protect it. We have been creeping towards central authority since DC became the capital, but when you look at the “electoral map” who has the more difficult path?
I think the push by the radical left and the lemmings who are following their lead is not going to have the intended result. A “media narrative” does not create or enforce laws. There will be an inevitable backlash.
One thing is for certain, we will find out much about ourselves and our “system” in the coming months and years.
Canceled my Amazon Prime membership yesterday. Wasn’t speeding up their slow shipping anyway!
Ordered the same item directly from the seller’s website. It was shipped the same day and arrived the next day.
#### Amazon.
Let me guess. They have no standing.
I'm in the process of upgrading my office computer system right now, and I'm doing this by effectively DOWNGRADING it. I'm reverting back to an office-based server and getting all my company files off a cloud-based server.
The events of last week had nothing to do with this, but they sure make me feel vindicated. I simply don't like the idea of having my files somewhere outside my control.
