I hope you’re right but this whole affair has horrified me to my core. I admit it. I never knew how much I love this country. Its almost too much to see how much hate so many people have for its principles. I believed there was hope but I’ve lost faith totally in the courage and integrity of our leaders.
Clarification: In 1934, Hitler, to please the military and gain their support, rounded up the SA, his erstwhile enthusiastic supporters and paramilitary rank-n-file, and had them all shot, including his dear friend Ernst Rohm and his fellow homos. I don’t see anything similar happening right now in America. But it is similar to what occurred in 1923 and afterwards in Russia, the criminalization of independent farmers, Kulaks, and forced collectivization of the peasantry. It’s similar to the push for single-payer health care insurance, and the elimination of employer-provided insurance. And Trump supporters are being treated as dangerous menaces on the pretext of that Reichstag riot, not unlike the Kulaks, who were accused of hording and black marketeering.
But one common denominator runs through it all, the suppression of free speech, at present on what are supposed to be neutral platforms, but are really unchecked monopolies. Back then by the government, whether Nazi or Communist.
