Tech mogul Elon Musk -- known as widely for slinging cars into the sun's orbit as he is for advocating against COVID-19 safety measures -- took to Twitter Thursday to slam Facebook over its latest privacy policy updates for its supposedly secure encrypted messaging app WhatsApp. Musk instead recommended users choose encrypted messaging app Signal.
This isn't the first time Musk has publicly sparred with Facebook over privacy concerns. In 2018, he not only had his own personal Facebook page removed, but those of his companies Tesla and SpaceX. His take on the long-fought battle between Signal and WhatsApp isn't off-base, though.
Both of the encrypted messaging apps have been found to have security bugs over the years that have been resolved. For years, WhatsApp has openly collected certain user data to share with parent company Facebook. Its latest policy change just expands that. Signal, on the other hand, has a history of fighting any entity that asks for your data, and adds features to further anonymize you where possible.
You’re thinking mirrors what I said on another thread yesterday. We’re about to take a step back in time and go back to doing things like we did in the old bulletin board system days and dial up modems. The difference is going to be the internet will be the backbone and everybody will be IP based instead of DNS based. If I understand what you are intending correctly I think that’s what you’re talking about. Think about IP addresses as the same thing as a telephone number and there’s nothing that says we cannot duplicate a separate communications backbone on the internet while flying under the radar. that assumes of course all communications would be secured and encrypted and no one could decrypt it without the proper key. it’s a lot to do, it might be a lot of work, but what you’re suggesting is absolutely doable. It mirrors what I was thinking yesterday.

You can edit your /etc/hosts file with the IP address and names.
You know that, and I know that, how many other people out there do? Not many. and keeping that list up to date when people’s IP address changes is going to be a very big challenge. That schema really only works when people’s IP addresses do not change.

Brother, that response was spot on! I got your six anytime.
He's building an alternative to Earth. We won't live long enough to see it, but if and when freedom's day comes again, it will be with a new polity on a new planet.
“Keep your Social Credit Score in the Acceptable range”
I’m sure Samuel Adams would be soooo proud of you.
Clout Hub seems pretty good. The CEO said on War Room that it pretty much replaces both FB and Twitter — a one-stop shop, I gathered.
Stand on your feet and die like a man.
Yeah I keep forgetting that one. I signed up last year. Seems to have a lot of potential if they get it doing all the things they want. I probably keep forgetting it because there are no big names there as far as I know. I don’t remember what my password is. I had it in a twitter message but deleted my twitter account a few weeks ago. I was talking with clouthub support via twitter because at the time, you couldn’t register on clouthub via the web. They went through and set me up an account. Come to think of it, I don’t even know what my user name is. LOL
Well what do you know. Just went there and clicked register/login and I had the login info saved in my browser. Tried to log in and got “Yikes! We are currently experiencing technical issues. Please try again later.”
I think I remember why I forgot them. App works ok but the website doesn’t.
Ok, I’m in. What do you know, my username is pollard.
Clicked on groups and the page went blank. LOL
Not ready for prime time.
It’s a good replacement for IM. Not for Facebook.
Elon will come through BANK ON IT!! I have been talking about Elon for weeks now he has been launching satellites into space for internet purposes he could see this coming AND God Bless him he has moved to the great republic of Texas!! Elon has had ENOUGH of this tyranny!!
The CEO said they’re getting getting so many new users. It should be better in a couple days.
CloutHub is where Brandon Straka is setting up his #WalkAway now.
Starlink - Elon’s satellite internet service is almost ready for widespread use. No more Comcast or ATT and I am thinking Musk has found a way to avoid all the Big Brother server farms and will enable us to communicate without censorship.
We cut our cable 3 years ago and went to Comcast Business as our internet provider/phone provider. We stream the few tv shows we watch and save close to $200/month versus cable.
A GS feels that Starlink will be the best for all conservatives.
The headline is inaccurate in that Musk is not recommending Signal over Facebook. He is recommending Signal over WhatsApp, which is owned by facebook and communicates a great deal of user data to facebook.
However, under the HarrisXiden Regime that may well change, since the Regime is not going to be bound by anything or by the Constitution. The Regime will do whatever it is told by China. We are, as of the 21st, an administrative district of China - for all intents and purposes.

So, the /HarrisXiden Regime will not wait until the 22 of January to take over?
Just received a report from Sidney Powell that Elon Musk Starlink provider will discontinue service to ANYONE not complying with free speech laws in this country. HUGE internet service in Idaho is going to be shutting down Facebook and Twitter from their service due to the laws of our constitution not being followed THANK GOD peop,e are fighting back!!!
I may have to take back everything bad I ever said about Elon.
Elon learned by living in CA. what tyranny is ALL ABOUT, he picked up and left for the great republic of Texas I expect VERY SOON his entire company to be moved to Texas, his space X is already in Texas!! I wrote him an email today begging him to produce Musk phones, tablets, and computers to be run from Starlink SCREW Apple, Microsoft, and the rest of these commies!!
