I took a beating on Twitter Thursday night for making what I thought was a commonsense observation that President Trump should be negotiating favorable terms for resignation "if there are 20 GOP senators who’d vote to impeach."
In our current climate, this was taken as a call for Trump’s impeachment. But it wasn’t a value judgment. It was a mathematical calculation.
As it happens, I do think the president has committed an impeachable offense, making a reckless speech that incited a throng on the mall, which foreseeably included an insurrectionist mob.
These rioters ended up overwhelming security forces and storming the Capitol. They shut down a solemn constitutional proceeding, endangering the lives of the vice president and the people’s representatives. They ripped through the facility, causing not only significant property damage but grave injuries.

In this case, that depends on what one thought of McCarthy before he shared this particular nugget.
McCarthy thought Mueller and Fitzgerald had righteous assignments, and carried them out well. He's as big federal government as it gets.
How did he incite this. Because he made a speech. Never said anything except peaceful stuff. His crowns always get riled up. But not violent.
Your area correct.
Never Trumpers ,everywhere .
Traitors.
Prefer,to,read Alan Dershowitz and Johnathan Turkey.
MGA
This sounds like something the National Review pantywaists told him to say - "dump Trump or you're fired" says Richie Lowery in that pathetic nasally voice.
Overwhelmed security forces? Security invited them in! It was a setup and a trap. I wish the MAGA people had just staged a sit-in outside the building and that the only people who went in were Antifa. This whole think was planned in advance to destroy Trump and conservatives.
Andrew and his fat, white, Irish looking face will become a target for the left before all is said and done.
Is he Chris Stirewalt’s wife?
“As it happens, I do think the president has committed an impeachable offense, making a reckless speech that incited a throng on the mall, which foreseeably included an insurrectionist mob. “
Two errors in fact and logic.
You cannot read the full transcript of Trump’ speech and point to “reckless” comments that rationally can be construed as insurrectionist, and no time did Trump seek or encourage a riot of occupation of the Capital building.
Insinuations of that are in the mind of those who make those insinuations and factually nowhere else.
By getting the facts wrong the logic is then wrong.
What we have is (a) a media full court press to write the script of the events at the Capital for what their narrative desires the events to be portrayed as, and not as the events actually were, and (b) political and media cowards refusing to deny the media’s script.
Andrew McCarthy adds his name to the list.
Trump hats. On antifa heads. Thank you 45. for showing us who our enemies are.
Get a rope
I find myself having to continuously repent of what I want to happen to these seditionists, and of not wanting to repent of it.
No, Andy. You took a beating on Twitter because it’s pathetic to read that kind of ignorant slop from a former Federal prosecutor who doesn’t know the difference between the role of the House (impeachment) and Senate (conviction) in these proceedings.
National Review would do well to hire a new legal expert. I would recommend either Viking Horn Guy or that clown who was taking selfies and scratching his balls while sitting at Nancy Pelosi’s desk.
Effing moron.
Trump posted a message urging protesters to remain peaceful and leave the Capitol.
“Dr” Jill needs to step in.....some people need immersion courses in remedial reading.
Twitter permanently removed Trump’s account on its platform and justified its censorship.....
saying the president had violated its “Glorification of Violence Policy.”
Twitter acted against Trump AFTER Trump posted a message urging protesters to remain peaceful and leave the Capitol.
If the “storming” began before the allegedly inciting speech was given, then the latter cannot possibly be the cause of the former, and the entire premise of the article falls.
I guess front gunner McCarthy doesnt know that President Trump was still speaking when the Capital police started opening up the doors/barricades.
Just in time to interupt Ted Cruz from objecting to the votes to the battleground states
They are afraid of us. Remember that. They must try to kill the threat now, because there if they don’t, they know that at least half of the American people will be coming for them.
Stay strong. Resist tyranny.
I find myself having to continuously repent of what I want to happen to these seditionists, and of not wanting to repent of it.
We have long memories Swamp Dwellers.
