Many FReepers attended the Capitol March – PLEASE CHIME IN. Here’s what I saw:
I was not in the Capitol building, but just outside near the stairs. The media reports are misleading and nothing like what happened on the ground. It seems very few of the talking-head story tellers were actually there.
As far as “violence” - I’ve seen some videos of mashing around with fencing and some pushing and shoving, but still haven’t seen any real “violence” on video or first-hand. There were broken windows, property damage and vandalism – for which people should be charged. If someone hurt or killed a cop, that person should fry, but it seems that details thus far have been purposefully sketchy… which causes me to doubt some of the stories we have heard.
From where we were, the only violence came from the Capitol Police.
They were improperly exploding flash bangs into the midst of the crowd. Flashbangs are used for structure raids, not blowing up around civilian’s heads and cause injury and panic. They were also, inconceivably, launching CS in the middle of huddled up people who had nowhere to go. Many were visibly injured and frightened - including women and children. Some got trampled. There were also pepper spray hose downs and lots of baton swats.
We were literally outside singing Bob Marley tunes when they started raining on us. VIDEO.
These cops were some of the most unprofessional, poorly trained and out of shape I've seen. No wonder there was a total security breakdown. They also killed an unarmed female veteran. No warning, no attempt to arrest, just ambushed her from behind cover and shot her dead. Her still yet-to-be-named shooter is on paid vacation and will probably get away with it. He didn’t kill an inner-city thug… just a white female.
Also, let me say this. We showed them one thing:

Whether Antifa interjected or not, a bunch of rag-tag American protestors sent their elitist rulers scurrying, in their little plastic hoods. The look on Pence’s face when he got thrown out of the chamber was priceless. IMO the Buffalo Horn Guy was hilarious.
Not a “riot.” A march or, perhaps, a rebellion, but not a riot. If the crowd really wanted violence or a riot we would be in the process of selecting an entirely new government.

Insurrection? I’ll give you an insurrection.
On November 3rd, 2020 President Trump won re-election in a landslide victory and everyone knows it. None of the events on January 6th, 2021 change this fact.
The Democrats are the ones engaged in a full blown insurrection. The Democrats stole this election. The Democrats are attempting yet another coup. The Democrats are engaged in treason. The Democrats have supported and advocated violence. The Democrats have shown an absolute disdain for America, the Constitution and the hallowed halls of the Capital. Their outrage should be directed at them.
We, The Deplorables, The MAGA, The Trumpian Army, know what the Democrats did. We know you stole this election and we know all the dirty details about how you did it. No matter how many times you accuse us of doing what you yourselves are doing we are going to call you out for the liars you are and demand justice. We’re rubber, you’re glue.
What’s going on is an attempted coup, to oust a legally elected President, Donald J. Trump. In fact Democrats have been trying for four years to remove him from office by hook or by crook. In spite of all their attacks on the President and on those who voted for him we, The Deplorables, elected him again. President Trump won re-election in a landslide garnering 74 million legal votes and with more support from blacks and Hispanics than anyone thought was possible. (1)
But the Democrats were not going to let the will of the people determine who was president. On November 3, 2020, after seeing on election night that Trump was winning, bigly, they put their well laid plan to steal the election in to action. (2)
They stopped the vote count election night in several major battleground states. That’s never been done before. These happened to be states that have been rife with election fraud, by Democrats, in the past. They kicked out GOP poll watchers or refused to let them get close enough for any meaningful observation of ballot counting. In the dead of night they flooded those states with millions of fake ballots, forged ballots, dead voters, fabricated voters, illegal voters. They counted fake Biden ballots again and again and again. They drove truck loads of fake ballots from New York to Pennsylvania. They used vote tabulation machines that did not tabulate votes but calculated them. And they used those calculations to make sure that Biden came out ahead no matter what. Election tallies are additive, vote tallies only go up, not down and yet several times we saw, live on T.V., that Trump’s tally had votes subtracted from it. (3) This massive election fraud could not have been more in your face. This was an act of treason. This was the insurrection that the Democrats, BLM and Antifa had been planning for all year.
The greatest case of election fraud in the history of our country and all of our institutions, responsible for considering evidence, determining findings of fact and providing a remedy to right a wrong, failed to do so. This was an abject failure and breakdown of our government. What are the people left to do? Our vote is the one power we have. It must be defended. We march to the Capital and address our grievances to our representatives.

I was there in Washington D.C. on January 6th, along with a million and a half other Americans who showed up to defend our country. This was not an army with a military purpose. It was more like a Salvation Army. We were there to save our Republic. There was no violence from us to speak of, no massive property damage, no arson. Just Americans using their voices to demand that the theft of this election be stopped. A peaceful event just like all MAGA events have been. The violence and confrontation came from and was encouraged by two sources.
1. It has been documented that BLM Antifa cells were there, they infiltrated the MAGA March and injected their brand of mayhem. (4) That’s your violent mob. They have been dishing out riots, murder, violence, and arson for the last 10 months supported and encouraged by Democrats. (5) Out of a million and a half MAGA marchers they managed to get about a hundred to follow them in to the Capital. And by their standards, the level of conflict and violence at the Capital was minimal. For a MAGA march, this turn of events was an extreme anomaly. For BLM Antifa it was par for the course.
And consider this, all the violence, arson and murder that BLM Antifa have waged this last year did not terrify the Democrats or media and it has largely gone unpunished. Very few have been prosecuted for the thousands upon thousands of violent crimes committed. But within two days of the MAGA march the FBI announces that they had captured the man who took a selfie sitting at Nancy Pelosi’s desk and the man who walked away with her lectern. Hallelujah.
The FBI has their priorities straight. Arson? Murder? Billions of dollars of damage in cities BLM Antifa rioted in? Not worth the effort. But the guy who took a selfie at Pelosi’s desk? That’s a top priority. They also officially concluded that BLM Antifa were not at the Capital and had nothing to do with any violence even though many MAGA marchers saw them and recognized them and tried to stop them from breaking windows. And even though a well known active BLM agitator, John Sullivan out of Utah, who encourages extreme violence and insurgence, was interviewed by media at the Capital on that very day! In fact he was right next to Ashli Babbit when she got shot. He says he was in the building just to “observe”. I don’t buy that for one second. (5k.)
And does it seem credible to you that the FBI can’t find evidence of BLM Antifa being there when it was broadcast to the world by media? The FBI is actively engaged in a cover-up.
2. A very aggressive stance by Capital Police combined with an insane over reaction by Democrats and weak kneed Republicans. This over reaction by both groups created a false narrative of mass violence. Sirens blaring when there was no emergency. Flash bangs, gas and smoke billowing when there was no resistance. We were all wondering what the hell was going on. They created a false flag.
Even with BLM Antifa involvement the altercations were minimal. Over a million and a half citizens were there to exercise their right to free speech. A few MAGA engaged in civil disobedience and some may have physically fought through the police line to initially get in to the building. Compare how Democrats reacted when the radical left invaded the Capital Building (remember the Kavanagh hearings?) Or when they tried to enter the Supreme Court. Or when they attempted to enter the White House. (6) Were any leftists shot and killed then? Did Nancy Pelosi demand Capital Police be fired?
And let’s not forget how unafraid the Democrats have been by the BLM Antifa riots over the last year. (7) Nor the hands off approach they took in response to the extreme violence those domestic terrorist groups inflicted on American citizens and cities. Democrats have even praised and encouraged BLM Antifa violence. (8)
I saw one guy trying to lead MAGA marchers around the back to enter the building. He walked toward the cops with his hands up, like “hands up don’t shoot”. That’s a BLM Antifa trademark move. The violent confrontations with police at the Capital, the smashed windows, have BLM Antifa written all over it. (9)
So, Nancy and Chuck, spare me your histrionics and feigned outrage. You are gas lighting.
The heinous attack. It wasn’t MAGA entering the Capital building or taking selfies at Pelosi’s desk.
1. It was the Capital Police who shot an unarmed MAGA supporter almost point blank in the throat, killing her. It was an execution. The woman was clearly not a threat and could have been grabbed by cops in the hallway in front of her as she was climbing through a broken window. There was also armed law enforcement standing directly behind her in the hallway! (10) They made no attempt to stop her. If they saw her as a threat why didn’t they pull her back? During the Floyd riots, Democrats draped cloths around their necks and got on bended knee for 9+ minutes. When an unarmed young woman was slaughtered by their police, they reconvened quickly with Vice President Pence barely acknowledging her loss of life. I don’t think they even conducted an investigation of the crime scene. And after this woman died, the cops opened the doors to the Capital and let MAGA marchers inside. Most rally participants had not even heard that a woman had been shot. Almost all cell phone coverage was down. If MAGA was such a violent threat why were they invited inside? Video shows hundreds of MAGA marchers calmly walking through the building with cops present, no violence, no mass destruction. (11)
2. It was someone killing a police officer, who was hit in the head with a fire extinguisher and later died from the injury. As of this writing the details of that have not been confirmed. We also don’t know who the purported assailant was. MAGA? Or BLM Antifa? BLM Antifa are famous for hitting cops over the head with blunt objects, (12) MAGA supporters are not.

What I saw of the march/protest was energetic, multi-generational and vocal. This BS about a Coup is coming from a bunch of cowardly drama queens.
The President specifically said that he would speak to the crowd at 11 am. I was there, ready to hear him, and he didn’t come out until around an hour late. Then he gave a speech that was flat. No energy, and a rehash of how the election was stolen. A couple of million people didn’t show up to hear a warmed over rally speech.
A friend and I got bored and started walking toward the Capitol, listening to the speech as we walked. When we got to the Capitol around 12:15, there were maybe a thousand people spread out around the grounds, looking for where the pre-announced speakers would be. There wasn’t any stage setup, microphones, nothing.
We walked completely around the building and saw light fencing blocking off the grassy hill on the west side, with a dozen officers standing a line. There were a few thousand people on the east side, still with a very light police presence. By the time we got back to the west side, flash bangs were being fired, then tear gas. The outer fencing had been knocked down. President Trump was still speaking and the crowd from the ellipse had not arrived.
Obviously the provocateurs were already making trouble before the main group of people arrived. Once the crowd got bigger, some ass on top of the bleachers kept yelling into a bull horn, telling people to move forward and climb over the protective walls. We left the main body and hung out on the edge of the crowd to watch the rest of the action. Police were coming in a dozen or so at a time, but it didn’t look like a major operation. If they thought they were fighting a deadly coup, they sure didn’t send enough people.
I was yelling at the bullhorn guy to stop telling us what to do; that we didn’t come to DC to be bossed around by a group playing Capture the Flag on top of some grandstands. People unstacked Inauguration Folding Chairs and sat on the hill, watching what was going on. We got a little gas when we walked on the south side of the building. I left the grounds at 4pm and didn’t see any sign of Insurrection. I only found out about it on the Metro, from people getting messages from their kids back home who saw it on TV.
So, if that was a coup/insurrection/government takeover, it was pretty weak and disorganized. 90% of the people I saw on TV were walking in and taking pictures. I am ashamed that all of our representatives ran away and wouldn’t talk to anyone.
We all gathered for a peaceful rally outside the WH Ellipse which occurred between about 9am and 1pm. The crowd stretched all the way out to the Lincoln memorial. I have no idea on how to count crowds but there seemed to be 500,000 people there easily. I base this on having been in stadiums with 50,000 people. This seemed 10x that.
Shortly after 1PM, Trump finished speaking and we all started heading towards the Capitol. I took the Constitution Ave route and ended up on the left side of the Capitol. There were thousands of us marching on Constitution Ave alone so it took some time to get there.
Once there, the Capitol was obviously already breached. People were setup in the bleachers (used for the inaugural) and right up against the building itself. Momentum pushed us forward towards the building. I ended up standing just outside the bleachers on the ground. I witnessed no crowd violence whatsoever. Most of us did not even know of the shooting of the protester going through the window yet because we had no cell signal. I couldn't so much as get a tweet out for hours though did get a few texts through.
There were occasional flash-bangs and tear gas cannisters getting deployed against us. But mostly the Capitol police were just standing there. Meanwhile, the crowd was chanting mostly things like "Whose house? OUR house!" It was almost a celebratory mood. Nobody was looking to hurt anybody but we obviously wanted our voices heard.
Around 4pm, the riot police in full gear started forming up and tear gas cannisters were launched in earnest. People started getting moved back. That's when my companions and I decided to head out - we walked down to the Federal Triangle METRO station and got out of town.
It wasn't until the drive back home that I realized the magnitude of the negative press coverage. All accounts greatly exaggerated what actually transpired.
