Tesla is giving its owners another way to express their individuality from behind the wheel of their vehicles. As if they needed it.
The EV maker released its Holiday Update, Firmware 2020.48.25 on Christmas Day, adding a few little gifts for recently built Teslas, including the ability to make the car fart or bleat like a goat at the outside world on command.
Through the new Boombox feature, users can now change their horn noise to a bunch of stock sounds including goat, applause, La Cucaracha, holiday music, coconuts and fart, each projected outward from an external speaker near the front of the vehicle. Boombox is available only on those Teslas (2019 and newer) fitted with the external speakers.
The best and likely to be the most offensive part of the new horn sound system is the potential customization, which allows users to upload up to five custom sounds from a USB drive. Something tells us we’ll be writing more headlines about this feature shortly—
The Holiday Update also tweaks the screen display and driving visualizer, plus adds some new games including Solitaire and something called Cat Quest, but who really cares about that. Because, you know, farts!

Try asking ALEXA to fart. She has quite a repertoire that tickles the grandkids and horrifies their mother. 💨💨💨💨
Good to hear because I was almost creamed in a parking lot by some kid in a silent electric car, driving like an idiot and whipping around corners without regard to those on foot.
I think lots of Tesla owners would want the horn to say “hey, sailor!”
Hard to tell the pitch of those pipes from just the pic. They could also be Dixie Horns.

More fun is to put in a CB with a loudspeaker.—only works in small town— When you see someone you know blurt out his or her name and never let on it was you who did it. One guy thought God was calling him.
Our culture continues circling down the toilet—figuratively, at least.
That’s for the interior. They added an app a while back called Tesla emissions mode where the range is quite uh impressive and you can locate the sound to whichever seat position you want. I imagine since Tesla is now the industry leader in car farts a more impressive range for the exterior will be a future upgrade if the demand is there.
Bubb Rubb now doesn’t have to go to the muffler shop to get whistle tips welded into his exhaust.
I spoke yesterday with a life ling friend in Mountain View California.
Like me, he is in his late 70’s but rides his bike most everyday to get his exercise.
For him, the proliferation of Teslas is a real threat. They are quiet and at city speeds are a noiseless threat to a bike rider.
So, I predict that to protect bike riders and pedestrians, quiet electric vehicles must be provided with some sort of a noise emission to alert bike riders and pedestrians of their presence
And it was illegal for good reason.
Vehicles are not toys.
Sigh.

I had an album of sound effects in college which included a police siren. One fine spring day when everybody was driving around with their car windows down, we stuck our stereo speakers in the fraternity house window and played the siren LOUD. It was hilarious watching all the cars pull over!
Reading that, I immediately thought of my years growing up in the 1960s on New York City's Lower East Side and the Puerto Ricans there who used to decorate their cars with fox tails, fender skirts, and pom poms.
Below, some pics from past Puerto Rico Day parades, one of the few where you really have to struggle to find an American flag. You find lots of them in most other parades there. ie, Columbus Day/Italian, Greek parade, Israeli, St Paddy's Day, etc.
And of course, a Russian would do that.
