Rural Americans, young Republicans, young Black Americans, and young women among the least likely to get vaccinated

The findings of a new national poll, “The Language of Vaccine Acceptance,” reveal the urgent need for political and health leaders to adjust their messaging to improve confidence in COVID-19 vaccines. The poll identifies the language that will be most effective in reaching all Americans, especially those who are currently less likely to take a vaccine, including rural Americans, Republicans age 18-49, Black Americans 18-49, and women 18-49.

The nationwide poll was conducted by the de Beaumont Foundation and pollster Frank Luntz in partnership with the American Public Health Association, the National Collaborative for Health Equity, and Resolve to Save Lives, an Initiative of Vital Strategies.

Highlights

Tips to Promote Vaccine Acceptance

The poll highlights the urgent need to change our vaccine lexicon in order to help bridge key differences and rally Americans across the country toward vaccine acceptance. Key findings include:

“The divides along racial, urban-rural, political, and generational lines are significant when it comes to vaccine acceptance, but we’ve learned that there are certain words and phrases that will work for all audiences.” -Dr. Frank Luntz

Messages for the Most Hesitant Groups

Following are highlights of poll findings to inform effective messaging for Americans in rural/farm communities, young Republicans, young Black Americans, and young women:

“Words can save lives. Our ability to boost confidence in COVID-19 vaccines will depend largely on the language, the messengers, and methods we use to communicate to Americans that the vaccine will help keep them and their families safe and healthy.” -Dr. Brian C. Castrucci, President and CEO, de Beaumont Foundation

Poll Methodology

The nationwide survey was conducted Dec. 21-22 by pollster Frank Luntz, with 1,400 registered voters (+3% margin of error), including an oversample of 300 Black Americans and 300 Latinx Americans. A representative sample of the nation’s demographics, including age, gender, race, education, and income, were polled on the preferred words, sentences, phrases, and attributes that would encourage them to consider taking a COVID-19 vaccine.

“There is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to vaccine communication. These poll findings will help us create a roadmap for reaching people who are worried about the COVID-19 vaccine, including communities of color, who are most affected by the pandemic.” -Dr. Georges C. Benjamin, Executive Director, American Public Health Association

It is my understanding that after taking the second dose, it is recommended to refrain from unprotected intercourse for four weeks.

Quote from a Biological Chemistry prof, who is supportive of the vaccines coming out:

“...when asked if she would take the vaccine right away, she responded: ‘I won’t be taking it immediately – probably not for at least the coming year,” she told the Post. ‘We have to wait and see whether it really works.’”

I’m of the same mind. “Fine, but you first.”

My wife is a retired Molecular Biologist who worked for pharmaceutical companies as a research scientist developing vaccines. She is not anti-vax or anything like that, but she is very concerned about the safety of the Covid vaccines since they are not typical, but use some sketchy/short cut techniques. To the small extent I understood her technical explanation she is concerned about RNA based vaccines having unpredictable side effects.

“Fine, but you first.”

And those going first are “born every minute”, so we’re in good shape there

The fact that they want us to take this so badly makes me skeptical, when I normally am not a “vaccine skeptic” at all.

I’m not afraid of this virus, I do not care if I get it or not, because I’m sure I’ll survive it just like every other virus I’ve gotten in my life. Let the vulnerable groups worry about getting the vaccine. But if you tell me I MUST take the vaccine, or try to pressure me into doing it, then my “spider sense” starts tingling.

Yup.

I’m just waiting for the inevitable “or else” clause.

Exactly. The next step is to outright encourage neighbors to turn in one another for arrest. Oh wait...

I’ll stick to my own language, which includes two words for this.

Your “understanding” is wrong... but you may well know that already.

Ingsoc and Hypnopædia. Never read A Brave New World before. Just picked up a three-pack that included it, along with 1984 and Animal Farm.

How will they address my concern: I don’t want to be a lab rat or Guinea pig.

I’m a 57 year old woman and DO NOT WANT IT.

They lockdowned the country for nine months, criminalized effective medications, and spread as much misery as they could. Now they tell us they will allow us to resume a shadow of our prior lives (with new chinese style social credit system and government issued travel permits) when we get the vaccine. And STILL people don't want it so they need to come up with a sales campaign.

Making it mandatory in 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...

The question is asked,

Can society require that anti-vaxxers take all inoculations (especially measles) if they take the Covid vaccine?

My answer is,.

Yes, by requiring proof of vaccination[1][2] for an increasing amount of activities and which we are now seeing proposed or implemented,[3][4][5] and which proof can be provided (even conceivably required) online[6] or thus face restrictions on freedom of movement, employment, schooling, shopping, and overall living if refused. And which can require children to be vaccinated.[7]

However, the warrant for requiring proof of vaccination presumes that vaccination prevents infection and or transmission, which is not proven. And that even if it does not enable these then that it is more efficacious than having recovered from Covid-19 and who thus have lasting resistance.[8]

Required vaccination also presumes that asymptomatic cases of Covid-19 (which an est. large percentage are) are infectious, which is debatable[9], while 90% of positive cases show such a low level of the virus that they are not considered to be infectious. [10]

Meaning that if a person has recovered from Covid-19, and is not infectious (which requires testing), then they should not need vaccination.

Vaccinations such as against polio, TB. small pox, whooping cough etc. (and i thank God for them) are already variously required in some states for public school children[11] .

But using the same “for the common good” rational then required proof of vaccination could also be required for the flu (which I had).

However, no proof of vaccination of such infectious diseases as the above is required for such things as shopping or travel within in the US, yet as the public is increasingly conditioned to being increasingly dependent upon the government, and to providing proof of submission then I foresee this required proof of compliance as being extended to increasing requirements of assent, from Climate Change requirements to family size (as goods become scare and the government itself is in debt over its head).

Meaning a trajectory toward Communism, and eventually what we read about in Revelation 13.

The groups least likely to say they were “absolutely certain” were Americans in rural/farm communities (26%), Republicans age 18-49 (27%), Black Americans 18-49 (28%), and women 18-49 (29%). This compares with 41% of all respondents who said they were “absolutely certain” they would get the vaccine.

And posters on Free Republic. I myself see not need to and have no intention to. If they offer it locally and for free, I could try to it though to see what it does.
