Two German WWII tombstones at a Texas veterans cemetery — each bearing Nazi swastikas — have been removed and replaced with new ones that do not use the symbol.
The 1943 gravestones belonging to German prisoners of war Alfred Kafka and Georg Forst at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery featured an Iron Cross with a swastika in the middle, and the phrase, “He died far from his home for the Leader (Führer), people and fatherland.”
Cemetary workers removed the stones on Wednesday.

Regards,
That's total crap … there were POW camps in the more remote areas of northern Canada that housed German POW's and they weren't captured on the eastern front … many brought over from England to alleviate POW congestion in Britain. These camps were so remote security was minimal … in some cases the prisoners were allowed to hunt game to enhance their provisions.
Taliban strikes again.
Grandma’s farm had a German POW crew working there, living in the old chicken coop. This was in rural Elida, Ohio. Ma said they were kept well away from the family. At least for the Krauts, the war was over, they lived, and no Russians...
Well that is what we allowed with pulling down statues
Old school Warrior’s Code of Honor: bury the dead under their own flag.
Read a great article about a trip to Midway taken by former WW2 pilots from Japan and the U.S. The honor between these groups of former enemies was beautiful. They had shared opposite sides of the same conflict as warriors under opposing flags, but their respect for each others’ selfless dedication to home and country led them to greatly honor their fellows as they told each other what part they had taken in the events over those waters.
We may live as enemies, but we all die as mere men.
Bingo in spades.
Many of them became citizens. They realized even their interment here was far, far better conditions than what they had in Germany.
I was assigned to Ramstein Air Base, Germany, in the 1970s. There were many WWII German vets in my organization. One told me he was captured at the second battle of El Alamein and sent to a POW camp in the Dallas area. He worked in the Post Exchange and said it was a “good time”. Had he been evacuated to Germany he would have likely been fighting Russians to the end.
Visit Fredericksburg, TX. The old downtown looks exactly like Bavaria.
Good post! Thanks for remembering those traditions.
Perhaps it was because the Germans were better behaved?
The day is coming, soon, when they will remove crosses off of tombstones.
Jim Crow Laws passed by Democrats.
Younger people may not know that. Always add that.
Similarly, don’t ever refer to just “the KKK”. It’s “Democrat paramilitary group the KKK.” And they terrorized and killed plenty of white Republicans along with blacks.
In 1975 Pol Pot and his henchmen devised Year Zero to signify the end of all previous culture.

Just like the French Revolution. They reset the calendar to Year One and for good measure renamed all the months. Marxists have a habit of burning things down because their convinced of their superiority.
And if he makes that visit, be sure to go to the Nimitz Museum of the Pacific War.
Like I said elsewhere, they’ll get their Antichrist.
They’ll follow him. Right into the lake of fire.
They are spirit of antichrist.
You take prisoners, you got to put them somewhere.
Many sites in the US were used as prison camps.
