Rush Limbaugh opened his final show of 2020 “by reflecting on what’s important.” Occasioned by the dire prognosis and related treatment he has lived with since early this year, Rush remembered and avowed:
There’s something about Christmas, my childhood memories of it, the families getting together and the children making it what it was. My feelings of thankfulness always surface. My feelings of great gratitude always surface at the Christmas time of year, and it’s no different this year. Now, in January of this year, toward the end of the month, I received a — you all know, but there’s something I want to say about it — stage 4, advanced lung cancer, terminal diagnosis. The objective of everybody involved was to extend life for as long as possible as enjoyably as possible.

I wasn’t expected to make it to October and then to November and then to December — and yet here I am. Today I’ve got some problems, but I’m feeling pretty good today. God’s with me today. God knows how important this program is to me today, and I’m feeling natural in terms of energy, normal in terms of energy, and I’m feeling entirely capable of doing it today.

You know, I have a philosophy there’s good that happens in everything. It may not reveal itself immediately, and even in the most dire circumstances, if you just wait, if you just remain open to things, the good in it will reveal itself.
Rush has posted transcript of his monologue here. Ian Schwartz has posted the transcript along with the video here at RealClearPolitics. It is well worth your time and consideration

That other conservative host that said Rush was b.tching is a JERK.
Way too many in this country are Terrified of death.
It’s taboo to mention it.
And that causes the fear of it to magnify much more.
Rush doesn’t know it, but it has been cathartic to likely many that he has shared his trials with us.
I have been near death several times and ironically it’s an incredibly peaceful feeling and seemed so natural at the time.
Now that I’m better it’s back to being terrifying :)
Yes I believe in God but I guess my faith is not strong enough.
But Rush sharing has alleviated fears to some extent...i’m ont sure why..but it’s a good thing
What a Man.
An ice breaker back when conservatives didn’t yet know how to laugh at the opposition.
He dared point to the hypocrisy of the left.
Found him on KFBK Sacramento a few weeks after he started broadcasting there. What a blast ! What a laugh ! At times over the top but he made people think .... for a change
“That other conservative host that said Rush was b.tching is a JERK.”
Who would that be?? He did his job and I know someone close to the radio industry and he told me no one in 20 years has beaten Rush at the 9 am PT slot ratings. It’s time for a change and time to get someone younger and angrier who will carry the torch for decades like Bongino and Bannon. Time for Rush to rest because he deserves it.
His job was to say Rush was whining?
Honest bro, you’re too much of a zealot for me.
That’s a good thing. We need zealots.
It’s not good when it closes one’s mind.
The world ain’t black and white bro.
I know some conservatives HATE hearing that.
But it’s the truth.
Have a good weekend
Reread as “[Rush] did his job” and the correct meaning of the remainder will fall into place for you.
I discovered Rush from his short lived TV show, and introduced my father to the program.
Thanks, Rush.
“I have been near death several times and ironically it’s an incredibly peaceful feeling and seemed so natural at the time.”
Yes, it is peaceful. I also think your use of the word natural is very much on target. Like you, as I move further and further away from the event a little of that wears off. But overall, it changes your whole outlook — on life — and for the better. I can’t imagine being in that state, though, without a belief in a God who created us and will welcome us back home when death on this earth finally succeeds (in whatever form it takes).
Rush and Free Republic...... life savers
I heard Rush his first day of nationally broadcasting.
Remember saying to myself, ‘Wow someone that thinks like I do!’
He didn’t convert me, he re-enforced me.
Going to be sorely missed.
Michael Savage mocked Rush’s account of his condition.
Wow that’s low. Really low.
Later.
Thanks, listened all day and had an apmnt and missed the most important part of the broadcast.
God is with you every day, bro. Of course, He's with every one of us every minute of every day.
Ditto.
Rush brings sanity (and humor) to an otherwise insane world.
Savage thinks he is the engine that drove the rise of conservative talk radio. Bugs the crap out of him that Rush receives the credit instead of him.
I used to listen to Michael Savage a bit many years ago. At one time, he had a few relevant things to say, just a very different style. Then he seemed to get bitter and jealous. That is the way I heard it, he would spend as much time criticizing other talk hosts than anything else.
Over the past few years I have turned off GB, Hannity, Laura Ingraham, only Rush remains relevant and consistent.
