Members of the progressive "Squad" in the House on Thursday introduced their own bill to send $2,000 stimulus checks to Americans after President Trump this week demanded the $600 checks included in Congress' stimulus deal be increased to that number.
The legislation was spearheaded by Reps. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass.; Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich.; Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.; Ilhan Omar, D-Minn.; and Pramila Jayapal D-Wash. It came after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said the House will meet on Monday to vote on stand-alone legislation for $2,000 stimulus checks.

The irony is thick. IMO Republicans are stupid not to support the standalone version of this stimulus.
Americans are hurting financially through no fault of their own.
If both parties insist on all of the ridiculous spending, at least don’t hold the stimulus hostage for other demands. Haggle over those for the appropriations bill separately.

Let’s follow this insanity to it’s logical conclusion. Let’s print up a million dollars for every man, woman, and child in the US, and heck, whoever else who wants to come here. That way we can all be rich for a day, until prices rise and it costs half a mil to buy a cup of coffee.

I agree with you totally. We don’t have the money, but opposing this bill may cost us the Georgia run offs. I don’t know why Republicans chose this hill to die on and suddenly became fiscal conservatives after all the porkulus bills they’ve passed. It does not look good to ladle out billions of dollars to other countries and illegal aliens and only give the American citizens $600 checks. They did not choose to stay home from work.
That’s fine, but don’t give away American Tax Dollars to muslim countries like Obozo did.

I just read the excerpt and did not see where the reporter mentioned that Trump ALSO said that to do the $2000 would require all the non-Covid junk be deleted; i.e., foreign aid and funds to Kennedy Center, etc.
Seems Pelosi and her squad have selective reading skills.

The Squad and Obozo were instrumental to force the Congress to give away billions to muslim countries and the spineless infidels of the congress and senate allowed it to happen.
