Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush is weighing a bid for attorney general, as the Republican currently in the job, Ken Paxton, faces new criminal accusations.
Several campaign donors have asked Bush to consider running in 2022, senior political adviser Ash Wright said. The Republican has not made a decision.
"Commissioner Bush has always said he will 'keep all options open' and that remains his policy," Wright said in a statement. "Like many conservative leaders around the state, he is very concerned about these allegations regarding Paxton."
Bush's intentions were first reported on the conservative website Texas Scorecard.
If he does jump in, Bush will face a fight. Paxton is "absolutely planning on running again, is looking forward to winning a third term, and is never going to stop fighting for the people of Texas," his campaign spokesman, Ian Prior, said Monday.

Bush, the grandson of former President George H.W. Bush and son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, is the only member of the dynasty currently in elected office.
He won his first term as land commissioner in 2014 and was reelected in 2018, after beating back a challenge from a fellow Republican. Bush was one of the highest performing Republican statewide candidates that year, earning more votes than Paxton and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick.
As a statewide official, Bush has been outspoken in condemning hateful or racist rhetoric within the GOP.
His tenure at the General Land Office has been rocky, most notably facing criticism over his handling of the Alamo historic site. At the 2018 Texas Republican Convention, the delegates booed Bush and cried out "Remember the Alamo!" as he took the stage.

Hell no. Not ever. These RINO losers haven’t YET gotten the message. We need to ramp up the message even louder.
Which Party???
The Reconquista Party.
No. Hell no. NFW
The Dems were not expecting him to be as popular as he was and they did not have the mechanism in place to overwhelmm his votes. This time, the same thing almost has happened again with the Dems not having enough votes accounted for due to having underestimated his popularity again (believing their own lying polls). However, they trucked in ballots which caused them to be openly caught. We'll see what happens. If they succeed in getting Biden into office with the votes (it can't be more than 50 million that he actually got), we lose our form of government and probably the nation shortly thereafter.
If voting could change anything they would not let us do it...
Become obscure in dignity. After one revolution, a constitution and two POTUSes, the Adamses were content with that. What makes the Bush clan so special.
I was sure there was a reason.
Oh boy, another Bush crime family member trying to lie his way up the political ladder. My goodness, the Bush and the Clinton crime families are like the American society all caught syphilis or gonorrhea.
All these so-called conservative strongholds are screwing the country over more than anyone else. Utah with the Romney mistake, and Texas with the Bush family over and over and over again. C’mon Texas, show us you’re more than just big talk, kick these bastard Bush pukes out.
Consider this, and it’s not my index finger “P” (ee).
Vote Democrat
Hell no!
They arecall liars.
>>Bush is a very good name to have in Texas politics. Has been for awhile.<<
Don’t know why, they’re not Texans. They all came from the Northeast bringing their stupid damn “compassionate conservatism” down here.
Compassionate conservatism = liberalism
“George P is a fraud.”

I guess I’ll be voting democrat in that election.
Shouldn't be that difficult. Either fund the prosecutor in the Collin County criminal case, or push the Federal case forward.
So the northeast has been controlling Texas for 30 years. Alright.
