Some Republican Senators Are on Board With Electoral College Challenge: Rep. Taylor Greene
The Epoch Times ^ | December 23, 2020 | Jack Phillips

Posted on 12/24/2020 9:15:35 AM PST by Tolerance Sucks Rocks

Rep.-elect Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said that some Republican senators will join an effort to challenge Electoral College votes when the joint session of Congress meets on Jan. 6.

The process must be initiated by requires one senator and one House representative. In addition to Greene, Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) and a number of GOP House lawmakers have pledged to challenge the votes.

“We have a very strong case, and our numbers are growing strong,” she said of the effort on Dec. 22 on Newsmax. “We talked to senators, and we’re good to go for this objection.”

Greene didn’t say which senators would join the challenge. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Sen.-elect Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) have both suggested they might get involved, but there’s been no public confirmation.

If an objection is filed during the joint session for key states that cast Electoral College votes for Joe Biden, each chamber will have to hold a debate for two hours on whether to disqualify a state’s votes. Then a vote will have to be held in each chamber on whether to throw the votes out.

Greene said she spoke with President Donald Trump about possibly challenging the votes, saying: “I didn’t run for Congress to sit by and be quiet, so I called the president.

“I support him, I voted for him, just like everyone else, and I’m happy to support him in this trying time.”

I hope Trump is paying attention to the fact that only Rand Paul and Tommy Tuberville made any public comments that they are even considering objecting to the electoral votes. Trump can’t even rely on the Senate to block the electoral votes. Trump needs to consider other options.

If they don’t get on board as one, they should all die as one.

Notice to all Republican Senators:

Failure to stand up and support our President Trump will result in a simple truth, this will be your last term.

This is not threat but an iron clad guarantee that we the people will see to it.

Only 1 vote per state and the R’s have a majority of states.

It only takes one senator and one representative. Is there enough backbone within the GOP to stop the steal?

We shall watch
We shall remember
and We shall vote accordingly during primaries (if there is another election)

She’s a tough one. So far, I’ve been impressed. A few of the Freshmen coming in seem like they’ll kick ass. I give them five years, though, and they’ll get squishy. It’s not a criticism; it’s just what happens in DC.

"Snip ... However Trump should consider changing the rules."
How exactly? I would really like to know. Congress has "fleshed out" the constitution starting with 3 US Code Sec. 15 to 20?

The last one seems to make as fast a procedure as possible and somewhere I think Congress cannot adjourn even shortly until all objections to state counts are resolved.

Any help?

It shouldn’t be “some Republican senators”. It should be all Republican Senators from states that carried Trump, period. These Senators to serve their state and their state’s people. There should not even be a question on this subject.

Any Senator from a solid red Trump state should be thrown out of office if that person does not stand up and be counted Jan 6th.

I don’t know that I would place
all of my eggs in this basket in
the hope of turning the election
to president Trump. This can’t
take place as a last ditch effort,
as the odds are against him. All
this will do is extend the vote
count process by two hours per
objection. If all of the senators
object, and they get a supporting
house member objection, this
amounts to 200 hours of debate.
But we’ll never get all 100
senators to make an objection.
President Trump needs to make an
unprecedented move, something
monumental, to stop the steal.

Maybe they want to enjoy what time they can have with their families. 12 days to go. CRUZ better be one of them. Can’t count on Cornyn for nothing involving Trump.

The amazing thing is that there some Dundergrounders and Rhomblyins who object because it “Makes us look like dumbasses”, which is like saying you should not object to being mugged because you are concerned about what the thief thinks of you!

I agree...it has to happen at the state level - in the legislatures of the contested states. They have to be convinced there was fraud and vote to decertify.

It is not a bad thing though, for US senators and reps to publicly challenge the certification and say there was fraud. The public needs to be awakened to the fact that the election was stolen - the more people in high places stand up and speak the truth, the more the public will take it seriously.

Election fraud is the kind of thing that people don’t want to believe at first - like hearing a friend hits his wife. People want to believe it’s just a nasty rumor. They might even get mad that people would gossip about a friend.

But once it becomes clear that it might actually be true, then people’s protective instinct kicks in, and they want to get to the bottom of it.

I was talking to a Trump hater who said this is all just Trump and his supporters refusing to face the fact that he lost.

I asked him - if it was stolen wouldn’t you want to know? He paused and said yes. I said that’s all we ask is that the truth be uncovered - whatever that is. Maybe it was stolen maybe it wasn’t - but we need to find out.
