Amazon To Face U.S. Union Push In Year Ahead

(Reuters) – In 2021, Amazon.com Inc is poised to face a renewed challenge from groups it has long countered: unions.

Energized by protests at Amazon’s U.S. warehouses and a more labor-friendly administration assuming office, unions are campaigning at the world’s largest online retailer to see if its warehouse or grocery workers would like to join their ranks.

A major test is expected early next year when workers at one warehouse decide whether to unionize. The company has not faced a union election in the United States since 2014, and a “yes” vote would be the first ever for a U.S. Amazon facility.

Amazon, America’s second-biggest private employer behind Walmart Inc, has told workers it already offers the pay and benefits unions promise, and it has trained managers to spot organizing activity. Its operation in France offers a picture of what the company would avoid: strong unions there precipitated a month-long closure of its warehouses this year.

Liberals owed tech giants a lot, especially Amazon. According to what I heard, after 2016 election, a 'revolving door' in D.C. was jammed. There were many Hillary people ready to move into positions in new administration, convinced that she will win. When Trump defeated her, they suddenly found nowhere to go. There were not enough places available in D.C. Tech giants stepped out and saved a lot of them, giving them jobs to make ends meet.

When Amazon will be in a pinch, Biden would find it difficult to side with workers if Biden does take over.

The Dems wanted to implement “card check” unionization back in 2009 when Caliph Baraq assumed his throne, but spent the whole two years of Democrat control of House/Senate working on Obamacare.

So I expect this time it will be a high priority.
For those not familiar, it substitutes public strongarming for secret ballots.

this is why they want the restaurant lock downs to continue... run them all out and force new ones to adopt minimum wage and unions.

If unionization materializes, Amazon may have to change the layout of the store to make it robot-friendly. If not, it could give up Whole Foods altogether.

The “card check” legislation was shut down by FedEx in 2009. FedEx had signed a deal to buy a bunch of new cargo aircraft from Boeing, and the contract included a stipulation that FedEx could cancel the order if there was a successful union drive in the company. Sen. Patty Murray of Washington is owned by Boeing, so she made sure the bill never got out of her Senate committee.

Now that the leftists have crushed small business retailers and Amazon’s sales have grown by 50%. Now that they have fattened up Amazon they are going to take it over with unionization and fill their dirty pockets.

The union goons in Californication get 6-figure pensions, so Amazon union goons should get even more!

Very interesting.
I wonder if there is a similar poison pill existing for 2021?

A lot of full time Amazon employees qualify for food stamp. Keep in mind they work for the wealthiest man in the world.

Jeff Bezos is extremely effective at Union busting. Amazon's push for hiring refugees was to prevent Unions from forming in warehouses years ago. They swapped out half the workforce which was Mexican and brought in Somalis.

Multiculturalism is the biggest pretext for anti-union activities and the Left is completely disarmed by it.
