As of Dec. 18, 3,150 people reported what the agency terms “Health Impact Events” after getting vaccinated.
The definition of the term is: “unable to perform normal daily activities, unable to work, required care from doctor or health care professional.”
The people reporting the negative effects reported them through V-safe, a smartphone application. The tool uses text messages and web surveys to provide personalized health check-ins and allows users to quickly tell the CDC if they are experiencing side effects.
The CDC and Pfizer, which produces the vaccine with BioNTech, didn’t respond to request for comments.

“My first dose of shingrix gave me a sore arm for a couple of days. My second dose put me down for a day plus the sore arm.”
Sounds far better than getting shingles, I can assure you from personal experience.
Sounds typical. I had #2 of Pneumovax23 about a month ago. Took it in the same arm with #2 Shingrix at the same time. Now THAT was a sore arm. Lasted a couple days. It was trivial and no biggie.
I think even the experts disagree. I did look up what you posted and it looks like that was done some time ago around May.
A quick rebuttal (not mine; I do not do this kind of research):
“A viral genome sequence was released to laboratories for analysis and the conclusion was it was “very closely related to members of a viral species termed severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).” Based upon reliable confirmation of the PCR test using “virus isolates,” the PCR test became the standard test for COVID-19.
However, researchers concede: “In the present case of 2019-nCoV (COVID-19), virus isolates or samples from infected patients have so far not become available to the international public health community.”
In other words, the scientific community did not have a complete virus to use to confirm COVID-19, only a “viral genome sequence,” a snippet of genetic material “very closely related” to COVID-19.
That was January 2020. Fast forward to December 2020. The FDA published a guidebook for PCR testing of COVID-19, marked “for emergency use only.” The title of the publication is: CDC 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel, and was initially published in February, 2020, and then re-published in July.
On page 42 of that document it says this:
Since no quantified virus isolates of the 2019-nCoV were available for CDC use at the time the test was developed and this study conducted, assays designed for detection of the 2019-nCoV RNA were tested with characterized stocks of in vitro transcribed full-length RNA of known titer spiked into a diluent consisting of a suspension of human A549 cells and viral transport medium (VTM) to mimic clinical specimen.
There was still no isolate of the virus months after a pandemic was announced. All laboratories are relying on a provided snippet of RNA genetic material that “mimics” or “is very closely related” to COVID-19.”
I know this is lengthy but I thought you would want to see it.
If this is outdated please let me know.
In contrast, we know exactly what the consequences of continued lockdowns will be on the world. Many countries economies devastated, billions of people thrust into more poverty and many deaths because of it.
The damage that's being wrought to the world because of this virus warrants an expedited rollout of these vaccines. We don't have time to test for two more years, the world's economy will be in ruins and many more people dead by then. It's easy to snipe from the sidelines but your tune would probably change if it's your loved one dying of a disease that could have been prevented by a timely rollout of a vaccine. It's been tested enough to a reasonable assurance of safety. Nobody is being forced to take it, if you're scared of it then don't take it.
The rest of us will use our best judgement that it's probably safe enough and go ahead and take it. The benefits outweigh the risk. Nothing in this life is certain so sometimes you have to use your best judgement and do something other than sitting around clutching pearls.
I've had Covid so I should be afforded a degree of immunity from that. When the vaccine's available to me I will take it.
They’re avoiding animal testing because lab animals given SARS-type vaccs tend to die of ADE when a new but related viral strain come along.

I would say that a lot of people do not understand the human immune system, and that includes doctors. They think that every answer is a vaccine, but sometimes a vaccine can cause more problems.
God made our bodies pretty much self-sustaining as long as we get the proper nutrients.
SARS came along, I think in 2002 (or 3?), and in 2005 a research study was conducted which concluded that HCQ, zinc and an antibiotic could cure a SARS coronavirus infection. (SARS meaning Sudden Acute Respiratory Syndrome).
I have read a lot to figure out how I can keep my own immune system in great shape. Two years ago, I visited my daughter when the grandkids just had some sniffles. Within three days all five of her kids were fevering and vomiting. But because I know how to take care of my immune system, I did not get sick or even a sniffle and I visited them for nearly two weeks.
A vaccine can only help one virus or bacteria at a time. So, that means you have to have a vaccine for every virus and bacteria. That right there is an impossible task. Wouldn't it be a little more advantageous to try to understand the immune system and how it works and beef up what our immune system needs in order to do its job correctly?

1.16 percent.

A good chunk of the 1.16% are things like “My arm is sore and, yes, I had to call the pharmacist and she told me to take an aspirin”.

And good old fashioned drama-queenism.
I wonder how many people know that the vaccines do not prevent you from getting the virus. Just like the flu vaccine.
Given this virus mutates the vaccine may give you something like 12 to 25% help with it, certainly not 95%. They will have to come out with different vaccines for COVID-19 for the strains that will develop.
So you would have to get this vaccine every 6 to 12 months to help.
The “Unable to work” makes me think the alleged reaction has added drama.
Many National companies are having a difficult time maintaining a work force to fulfill their needs because if you know someone with COVID, if you’re not felling well, or fail the work place health screen (many states mandate) by saying your stomach is sick, the same employees are sent home sometimes for days without penalty. Sometimes even paid.
I wonder how many drama queens are saying the vaccine made me ill and now I can’t come to work until AFTER CHRISTMAS!?!?!??
From what I have read this vaccine was not tested on the elderly and frail, yet last week it was voted to roll it out to nursing homes and they have no idea what may happen.
And you can get 2 weeks off, in quarantine, for being exposed to the kungflu.
AFTER CHRISTMAS!?!?!??
After New Years if you time it right.
Yep. And there seems to be a rash of “exposers” right now........timing is everything, spend Christmas at home instead of working.
COVID, the gift that keeps on giving to the lazy people in the work force.
That made me laugh...I don’t do that often these days, so thanks.
The worse was going through the Panama Canal to the Pacific ocean from the Atlantic to deliver a water purifier to the Pacific side. Shots before, in the canal and on the other side and some return shots.
“that third arm I’m growing will be useful....”
I can’t decide which side to grow my third arm from or have it grow from my chest or back.
“It’s better than participating in the funeral of my 95 year old father in law knowing I brought the disease to him.”
Which is why we haven’t seen our adult children and grand kids for months.
They don’t want to kill us!
Hopefully, the vaccine will work, and they can visit again.
It’s understood it protects against all strains from what I read. But then who really knows what to believe?
