The Party of Trump
Dec. 15, 2020 | Slyfox

Posted on 12/15/2020 6:54:49 AM PST by Slyfox

Do ya'll remember the Country Club Republicans? They held sway over the GOP for many years. East Coasters like Nelson Rockefeller and the Bushes. None of them liked Ronald Reagan, but we did. They did everything they could to side-line our dear Ronnie.

True patriotic Republicans have had to put up with being dismissed by the Country-Clubbers, we were not hoity-toity enough for them. Or pro-choice enough for them.

Then comes the TEA Party which embarrassed the crap out of them. The George Will's of the world denigrated us. The Karl Rove's of the world worked to displace us. But then Donald Trump came along and without a stitch of blue-bloodness in his system he got our motors running.

The Country-Clubbers have morphed into Never-Trumpers.

Well, guess what? The GOP is now the Party of Trump.

Oliver Wendall Holmes once said that a mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.

The Party of Trump will never go back to being second place because we are this country's truest citizens.

No.

We should NEVER be the party of a particular politician.

I'm a Republican, not a cult member. I worship the Constitution, not any person.

Principles, not personalities

I remember this all too well. My father canvassed hard for Reagan throughout New York, while my mother — a Walker — was roundly chastised by the NY elite Republicans for daring to side with Reagan. I can only imagine where we would be now if the Republicans had gone down the Bush road before allowing Reagan to reshape the party. There has always been a presumption of allegiance to the Republican brand rather than any ideology. Reagan put an end to that soft-headed notion. And Trump isn’t much different. But it seems establishment Republicans need a not-so-gentle reminder of who they really owe their successes to from time to time.

I have a lot of experience from which I speak. I tend to pack a lot in a short space.

Do the Republicans have principles?

Yes, they do, The real ones do.

The best gauge of a real Republican is in how much they like and follow the Republican party platform.

The GOP platform, unlike the democrat one, is the opinion of the grassroots. If you take the time to read it you will see it is the people upholding the Constitution.

The Country-Clubbing Never Trumpers dismiss the platform every chance they get.

I remember when Bob Dole was asked, just after he had been nominated at the convention in 1996, if he was going to read the platform and he said, "Who reads a platform?"

Any wonder why the grassroots were none too happy and did NOT come out in droves to vote for him?

Your tagline. It’s a perfect expression of how I feel about the GOP. I look at the lack of support that Republicans in the House and the Senate gave Donald Trump in regards to the steal. Even his own Supreme Court refused to help him. Even his own DOJ and FBI (hello Barr) were worthless and useless.

Don’t get me wrong, I am a conservative and therefore I must vote Republican. But to even think for a moment that the GOP is the party of Trump? Ridiculous.

My friend, I like you. But seriously, are you high right now?

Is the South Republican? Yes. In fact, they really were in 1968 when the Marxists and hippies took over the Democrat Party, they just didn't know it yet. These things are generational, and Trump's victory was a key point in the ongoing party alignment, and the Country Clubbers know it. There is a reason why the Paul Ryans and Jeff Flakes aren't running for re-election. We must continue to push them and their money into the Democrat Party, where they can make new conflicts. We recruit candidates at EVERY level, we primary the termites that don't take the hint. We will continue to lose seats in the northeast, and gain in the rust belt, as working class folks are awakened to the scam.

This is NOT about an election. This is about war, and the Country Club Republicans are still in retreat because our Field Marshall is not suing for peace.

Yes, reshape the party he did.

I am always skeptical of people who demean Ronald Reagan.

The problem is we keep voting for these establishment Republicans time and time again. Far too often we’re stuck with the “lesser of two evils” options in elections where we have a RINO pitted against a radical leftist Democrat, and predictably we vote for the RINO. Sadly, in most instances these people let us down time and time again. There are many good, honest and principled people in this country, but many will not take the plunge into running for public office, and those who do realize early on they have to compromise a lot of their principles to get elected. Good people stay out of politics. BAD people become politicians.

Mitt Romney and Susan Collins are Republicans, so their principles are your principles if personalities don’t matter, right?

Re GOP party of Trump;
I believe slyfox was referring to US as the GOP being the party of Trump, not the Romneys and other spineless RINO p#ssies.
At least that’s how I understood it.

Trump’s very large base could be called the “MAGA Party” or “Freedom Party” at some point. Even “Patriot Party” would fit the core beliefs.
