‘No bail’ just part of it: LA’s new DA totally eviscerating basic law

Los Angeles’ newly elected district attorney, George Gascon, has a plan for ensuring compliance with the county’s draconian stay-at-home orders: make the city so dangerous that Angelenos will be terrified to step outside.

Gascon belongs to a wave of well-funded left-wing prosecutors who have come to office promising to eliminate racial disparities in the criminal-justice system. They are doing so by eliminating key components of the criminal-justice system itself. Gascon’s office will no longer prosecute a wide range of misdemeanor offenses.

They include:

Trespass. Los Angeles streets, in all but its wealthiest neighborhoods, are already overrun by squalid encampments. Business owners who have managed so far to survive the lockdown regularly have to sweep vagrants off their property in the morning, along with feces and drug paraphernalia. The vagrant won’t leave? Don’t bother calling the police. Any arrest an officer makes will simply be dismissed. If a homeowner sees a vagrant climbing the fence to his house, he will have to deal with it himself.

Driving without a license or driving with a suspended license. The risk of being hit and possibly killed by a drunk driver or by someone who just can’t operate a car just went up, in a sop to the illegal-immigrant lobby.

Disturbing the peace. Los Angeles has seen a spate of shootings at rowdy illegal house parties. Too bad if such a party breaks out on your block. Just hope that no one feels dissed and pulls a gun.

Public intoxication and loitering to commit prostitution. These activities are the prelude to greater problems, as law-abiding residents of high-crime communities know too well. The sister of an assassinated Chicago cop warned in The Chicago Sun-Times this summer that illegal drug and alcohol use on residential streets easily escalates into fatal shootings

The think a lawless society works in their favor.
I suspect that they are wrong about that.
At some point, people will just start taking out the trash.

One could write a book on how to destroy a country, but it would only sell in Chinese.

This looks like orchestrated self-destruction.

CA went thru-the-Looking-Glass some time ago, but they keep going ever further into Wonderland. If you commit a real crime, you go free. If you commit a “pandemic” crime, you go directly to jail.

I’ll also wager that the “pandemic” crimes are only enforced for certain ethnicities, but not others.

I live in a quiet suburb. Somewhere in the midwest. If i forget to lock a door, its no big deal. No one is going to walk into my house. I have a gun. Its for fun and sport, i really don’t need it for self defense. Why would anyone want to live in Los Angeles? Or any other major city run by “progressives”?

Donkey governors need to realize that a business might go to employing 100 people to employing four family members.

Well here’s the plan. 1st buy a case of cheap booze. 2nd go to bank for a handful of $10 bills. 3rd call Uber. Once Uber arrives pack up the cars with homeless people with a payment of $10 and bottle of booze. Give Uber driver the home address of the LA DA. Lately wave goodbye!

I live in a very rural area. The front gate is 700 yards from the house and locked. I sleep well as 4 dogs have good ears. Anyone trying to get in would just help the dog food budget.

"Los Angeles’ newly elected district attorney, George Gascon, has a plan for ensuring compliance with the county’s draconian stay-at-home orders: make the city so dangerous that Angelenos will be terrified to step outside."

The Omega Man is a 1971 American post-apocalyptic action film[3] directed by Boris Sagal and starring Charlton Heston as a survivor of a global pandemic. ...”

Plot

In March 1975, a Sino-Soviet border conflict escalates into full-scale war in which biological warfare destroys most of the human race. U.S. Army Col. Robert Neville, M.D. [Charlton Heston], is a scientist based in Los Angeles. As he begins to succumb to the plague, he injects himself with an experimental vaccine, rendering him immune.

By August 1977, Neville believes he is the plague’s only immune survivor. Struggling to maintain his sanity, he spends his days patrolling the now-desolate Los Angeles, hunting and killing members of “the Family”, a cult of plague victims who were turned into nocturnal albino mutants. The Family seeks to destroy all technology and kill Neville, who has become a symbol of the science they blame for humanity’s downfall. At night, living atop a fortified apartment building equipped with an arsenal of weaponry, Neville is a prisoner in his own home.

One day, as Neville is in a department store helping himself to new clothing, he spots a woman, who quickly runs away. He pursues her outside, but later decides he is hallucinating and dismisses the sighting.

On another day, the Family finally captures Neville. After a summary trial, he is found guilty of heresy by the Family’s leader, Jonathan Matthias, a former news anchorman. Neville is sentenced to death and nearly burned at the stake in Dodger Stadium. He is rescued by Lisa, the woman he had earlier dismissed as a hallucination, and Dutch, a former medical student. Lisa and Dutch are part of a group of survivors, all of whom are children. Although their youth has given them some resistance to the disease, they are still vulnerable to it, and will eventually succumb to mutation. Neville realizes that even if duplicating the original vaccine is possible, salvaging humanity would take years. He believes extending his immunity to others may be possible by creating a serum from his own blood.

Neville and Lisa return to Neville’s apartment, where they begin treating Lisa’s brother Richie, who is succumbing to the disease. Neville and Lisa are about to have a romantic evening together, just as the generator runs out of fuel and the lights go off. The Family then attacks, sending Matthias’ second-in-command, Brother Zachary, to climb up the outside of Neville’s building to the open balcony of his apartment. Neville leaves Lisa upstairs as he goes to the basement garage to restart the generator. Neville returns to the apartment to find Zachary right behind an unsuspecting Lisa. Neville shoots him and he falls off the balcony to his death, dropping his spear on the balcony as he goes.

If the serum works, Neville and Lisa plan to leave the ravaged city with the rest of the survivors, and start new lives in the wilderness, leaving the Family behind to die. Neville is successful in creating the serum and administers it to Richie. Once cured, Richie reveals the Family’s headquarters to Neville (the Los Angeles Civic Center), but insists that the Family is also human and that Neville’s cure should be administered to them, as well. Neville disagrees with him, so Richie goes to the Family by himself to try to convince them to take the serum. Matthias refuses to believe that Neville would try to help them, accuses Richie of being sent to spy on them, and has him executed. After finding a note that Richie left, Neville rushes to rescue him, but instead finds his dead body tied to a judge’s chair in a courtroom.

Meanwhile, Lisa quickly and unexpectedly succumbs to the disease and becomes one of the Family. Returning home, Neville tells Lisa about Richie’s death, but she already knows and has betrayed Neville by giving Matthias and his followers access to Neville’s home. Matthias, who finally has the upper hand, forces Neville to watch as the Family sets his home and equipment on fire.

Neville breaks free, and once outside with Lisa, he turns and raises his gun to shoot Matthias, who is looking down from the balcony. The gun jams, giving Matthias enough time to hurl Zachary’s spear at Neville, mortally wounding him. The next morning, Dutch and the survivors discover Neville dying in a fountain. He hands Dutch a flask of the blood serum, and then dies. Dutch takes Lisa (weakened and compliant because of the sunlight) away, and the survivors to leave the city forever.

“...a wave of well-funded left-wing prosecutors who have come to office promising to eliminate racial disparities in the criminal-justice system.”

Judge: “Mr DA...I see you’ve brought a black man to my court for murder and carjacking. I hope you made the obligatory arrest of a white person to offset this man’s arrest.”

The DA: “Yes, your honor. We’ve arrested a white for spitting on the sidewall. We’re asking that you assign penalties of equal value in both cases.”

Judge: “Very well sir. I am sentencing both men to 20 years in prison, with no possibility of parole. Next case!”

It’s going to be a continuous cycle. Defund the police, all hell breaks loose, give more money to the police, accuse the police of overkill, defund the police. And on and on and on.

Maybe the mayors can take up Dinkins mantle and have midnight basketball as a solution.

This should not come as a surprise to you. The new focus of law enforcement is getting guns out of the hands of law abiding Citizens, protecting criminals, Killing white law abiding people as the Huston Police Department is so good at as they demonstrated in the Downing Street drug raid. They are to be kinder, gentler, and more understanding to criminals.

And thereby poison a whole additional segment of society into corruption - by essentially requiring the corruption to counter the structural corruption.

This stuff is part of of Germany got the Nazis.

Is it any wonder that more and more upper and middle-class neighborhoods are erecting gates - with guards - around their developments?

In “The Shawshank Redemption” the warden coerces inmates by threatening to cast the main character “down among the sodomites”; our elites are using our weaponized, increasingly foreign underclass as their pawns towards the same end. Anyone resisting will face criminal charges (see the couple brandishing, but not using, weapons when their private gated community was breached as an example); they believe they will enforce compliance in that manner.

This underclass has been bred like Saruman’s Uruk-Hai in “The Lord of the Rings”, for exactly the same purpose: To destroy the world of (Western) men (and women).
