Barr Worked to Keep Hunter Biden Probes from Public View During Election
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 10 Dec 2020 | Sadie Gurman and Rebecca Davis O’Brien

The attorney general knew for months about investigations into Biden’s business and financial dealings

Attorney General William Barr has known about a disparate set of investigations involving Hunter Biden’s business and financial dealings since at least this spring, a person familiar with the matter said, and worked to avoid their public disclosure during the heated election campaign.

Republicans and President Trump have pressed Mr. Barr for months to pursue Mr. Biden, especially as his father, Joe Biden, gained momentum in his ultimately successful bid for president. Mr. Barr has staved off pressure from Republicans in Congress for information into the investigations, the person said, without elaborating on his actions.

One investigation became public this week after federal investigators served a subpoena on Hunter Biden. The subpoena sought detailed financial information in connection with a criminal tax investigation by the U.S. attorney’s office in Delaware, according to people familiar with the matter.

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan had also been looking at Hunter Biden’s business and financial dealings, as part of a broader criminal investigation that two people familiar with the matter described as an international financial investigation that had been going on for at least a year. Hunter Biden is implicated in that investigation but was never a specific target for criminal prosecution, the people said. They declined to provide details on the substance of the probe.

Wow.

Barr needs to be fired, if this is true.

This is dispicable, if true.

This is traitorous.

Sounds suspiciously like former PA AG Tom Corbett squashing the Jerry Sandusky “Second Mile” child sexual abuse investigation about a decade ago...until he had
“safely” arrived in the Governor’s Mansion.

The Second Mile was at the center of that mess. A combination child dispensary and hush hush bank for politicos. Tommy C was/is as dirty as sin. Tom Ridge most likely too.

I do get the frustration but I genuinely think Barr is a good guy. Not completely in on Trump...but he does do what he thinks is right and follows the law. He was following long standing justice department policy. I understand, the Dems never follow the rules...but that is all Barr was doing...and there are good policy reason for the rules.
The policy has remained remarkably similar across administrations. Whether prosecutors read the memo issued in 2008 by Attorney General Michael Mukasey, or 2012 by Attorney General Eric Holder, or 2016 by Attorney General Loretta Lynch, they read virtually similar guidance. All three memos were issued early (March or April) in the election year, bore the same title (“Election Year Sensitivities”) and contained the same two sections in the same order: one that addressed the “Investigation and Prosecution of Election Crimes” and one that addressed the Hatch Act, a federal law prohibiting executive branch employees from engaging in partisan political activity under certain circumstances.

Those three memoranda all state that Justice Department employees “may never select the timing of investigative steps or criminal charges for the purpose of affecting any election, or for the purpose of giving an advantage or disadvantage to any candidate or political party.” They also encourage prosecutors to contact the Public Integrity Section of the Criminal Division for further guidance regarding “the timing of charges or overt investigative steps near the time of a primary or general election.”

This continuity has stretched into the Trump administration. In February 2020, Barr issued a memorandum with a different focus, though he cited the three previous election memoranda approvingly and noted that new requirements for opening sensitive investigations would be “in addition to all existing policies.”

DOJ guidelines inhibit the DOJ from digging up trash just before an election. It’s one of those ways we introduce an element of stability into the public domain. Barr goes by the book, and does not at all consider himself to be at the whim of passions. I wish there were more like him.

So he was willing to see this country be turned over to a puppet of China rather then inform the public about the truth.

What a worthless shit.
