Staten Island pub owner Keith Maclarny holds a press conference outside of his bar Mac's Public House. Maclarny is among many business owners who had to close their doors in result of COVID spikes in New York.

Every time an American looked at an item for where it was made in it came from China. Now China’s reliance making everything was being threatened by a change in leadership in America which was a major consumer of those products. When Americans hailed their leaders decision to make many of them in their country US. Their politburo worried.
Worse yet opponents to the Chinese regime in power had its citizens protesting its policies , as in Hong Kong, since that change in American leadership wave the American flag and present Trump’s name when doing so. All of which presented those in power the need to destroy that leader Donald Trump.
Would a runaway plague created by a nation which could threaten populations of an enemy cause them to react by demanding extreme restriction of movement by its population to prevent its spread ? Thus wind up fragmenting its economy and create defeat for that leader’s upcoming election.

I don't think a single government "worker" has missed a paycheck. There hasn't been a single performance at the Metropolitan Opera since March but the stagehands and many others are still getting paid. Nice work if you don't have to do it.

I know NYers get a lot of flack but Staten Island is a stronghold for the GOP. It’s the only bastion of sanity in the NYC metro area. Although, I think Long Island went Trump as well.
We think too much of republican states and democrat states. There are a lot of damned good Americans behind enemy lines in California, Illinois, New Mexico, Washington, Oregon, and even New York. Also, there are some damned rotten communist counties in Texas, Georgia, Pennsylvania etc....
I prefer that county by county vote map. From what I understand, Staten Island is good Americans.
Not quite. Of the two counties on Lawn Guyland, Nassau (where I grew up), went for Biden quite handily. Has not voted GOP since 1988 in a presidential election. Suffolk, which has a lot more blue collar and “middle middle” class white folk went for Trump twice, albeit not by a huge margin.
Meanwhile the private sector college educated denizens of Park Slope, Brooklyn Heights, and the Upper West/East sides would not be caught dead voting for Trump.
I won’t disparage LEO’s either but, when you throw your integrity away to damage a fellow citizen you demonstrate you are in charge and that respect is gone.

Most of NYC is literally one-party, and there’s either no other candidate to vote for than the Dem or some GOPer who is so out of the loop that he or she is completely unheard of and also has no money to get heard.
This is a golden opportunity to get good candidates and get lots of voters, because even some Dems I know are completely furious.
However, that all depends on the next week or so. If the Biden-Harris creature gets in, it’s all over. It will be the “mask mandate” or even possibly a three month national shutdown in January enforced by the military. We need to hope and pray for Trump, but we also need to prepare for the worst.
And we need to gain allies, not drive them away.

Trump won Staten Island by 15 points and voted for a Republican in the House.
