Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) said President Trump’s reported attempts to overturn the results of the presidential election in Pennsylvania were “completely unacceptable.”
“It’s completely unacceptable and it’s not going to work and the president should give up trying to get legislatures to overturn the results of the elections in their respective states,” Toomey told the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Toomey added that he spoke on the phone with President-elect Joe Biden last week, saying “we had a very pleasant conversation” regarding potential areas of cooperation.
The Pennsylvania Republican, who has said he will not seek a third term in 2022, is one of under 30 GOP members in Congress who have gone on record to acknowledge Biden’s victory.
The Washington Post reported this week that Trump called Pennsylvania House Speaker Bryan Cutler (R) and pressured him to appoint pro-Trump presidential electors.
Cutler’s office has said that he told Trump lawmakers do not have the power to override the results of the vote. However, the speaker previously joined several other Republican lawmakers in asking Pennsylvania’s congressional delegation to raise objections to the results after the electoral college votes.
Although Toomey pushed back on Trump’s attempts to overturn the election, he also suggested Democrats’ allegations against the president, including his impeachment in 2019, had undermined faith in U.S. elections.
“A lot of Republicans across the commonwealth and across the country are sympathetic to some of the allegations being made by the president because they’ve witnessed the way he’s been treated for the last four years by the left and the press,” he said. “The accumulation of these outrageous attacks leads people to wonder, ‘Well, what wouldn’t they do?’”
He used to pretend to be a staunch conservative.
Completely unacceptable for Toomey to be such a douchebag and just accept Filthadelphia election crime as normal. What a piece of crap this guy is.
I want Toomey to read up on what happened to Nixon. He caved.

The 1960 Election had Hawaii certifying 2 slates of Electors, it could have been decided in SCOTUS had Nixon not waived the slate through.
Not a sell-out.
Compromised.
Someone owns him and plays him like a hand puppet.
That is true of the entirety of the GOPe, and many of the “conservatives” that are only so during face time on TV or public utterances, but behind closed doors are the Dem’s punk bi***es.
Gun control Toomey speaks
The use of the word — OVERTURN implies that the results are what really reflects the will of the voters.
The right word to use is RESTORE.
Why would doing something which is both legal and just be “unacceptable.”
Surely there is a REAL conservative in Pennsylvania to primary this slug.
Shouldn’t Toomey be saying that voter fraud is unacceptable and the results of voter fraud should not be allowed to stand?
So, Pat, are you voting for Kamala or Mike?
Also it is constitutional and legal.
So I guess it's okay for Toomey to pressure the President though.
Toomey should be pushing the truth like Trump. Toomey needs a local town hall meeting with his constituents just like any ga Congressional leader who wont vote for Trump delegates. There peeps need to explain why they think Trump should not get the electors in a local town hall before decision day. I bet I know how that town hall will go.
He is also mistaken in assuming Trump is the subject. It is we, the people.
Toomey has always teetered on the fence. Now he completely fallen of to the dark side!
This guy certainly has run off the rails. I question his mental competence as well as his offshore bank account deposits.
His constituency is 13 year old girls.
He said he's not running again. Of course they all lie and discover that they are essential in these trying times but I think he may mean it. He's burning a lot of bridges with his act of late.
And they want to maintain their Senate majority?
F them. F Georgia.
