since he has been dead since 1990 and is not around to abase himself in person his family does it for him. Notice that the mouthpiece for the "offended" wants money instead of a mere apology.

Posthumous shakedowns are pretty low.

That was the first thing I noticed: “GIVE US OUR MONEY!” Racism is the biggest protection racket going today. Capone and Luciano were pikers compared to the race-baiters.

My grandma died around 1985. I remember her once using what would now be called “a racial slur” or “the N-word”.

Do you suppose I should issue an apology, in case she offended anyone?

Can you apologize for someone else? That’s a pretty hollow apology.

It reminds me of when Pat Morita was hired as a stand up comic for a Pearl Harbor reunion. He started off by say, “We are really sorry for messing up your harbor.” It was hilarious because he had nothing to do with it. He spent the war in a Shriner’s Hospital as a child and then a Japanese relocation camp. This man apologizing for anything was ludicrous just as Dahl’s children apologizing for their father.

Great news! Can we go back to reading his work, again, or no? Asking for a friend.

I think his comments were something to the effect that Jews “switched so rapidly from victims to barbarous murderers.” He clarified that saying that he wasn’t anti-Jew, just anti-Israel.
I disagree with him entirely, but I could not care less.
Roald Dahl was a fighter pilot, a spy, er, diplomat, and an outrageously successful children’s author. That sort of personality doesn’t lend itself to political correctness. I don’t care what the perpetually offended think, er, feel, I am simply grateful that such a man lived.

These “Campaign Against Antisemitism” losers aren’t even trying to disguise the fact that they want money for nothing.

"It is a shame that the estate has seen fit merely to apologise for Dahl's anti-Semitism rather than to use its substantial means to do anything about it," the spokesperson said.

What are they suppose to do about it?

Nuke Iran?

Gee, the attempted shakedown generated a little animosity in me, and I generally really LIKE Jewish people.

You don’t abolish stereotypes by living down to them.

“Anti-semitism” is generally just another racket. A truly anti-semitic remark would be “all Jews are horrible people” because it lumps all of them together with some vague characteristic simply by virtue of being Jewish. Neither Jewish people, nor Israel, however, should be above criticism.

Perhaps Dahl added a “Sod Off” clause to your types in his Will.

Whoever is asking for cash to make a 30-year-old comment all better demeans the cause of anti-Semitism. Shame on them. Roald Dahl Estate should tell the grifters to move on.

Roald Dahl’s family just apologized for his Jew hatred. What were the 5 worst things he said?

December 6, 2020 By Thea Glassman
https://forward.com/fast-forward/349771/roald-dahls-family-has-apologized-for-his-jew-hatred-what-were-the-5-worst/

1)“There is a trait in the Jewish character that does provoke animosity, maybe it’s a kind of lack of generosity towards non-Jews. I mean, there’s always a reason why anti-anything crops up anywhere; even a stinker like Hitler didn’t just pick on them for no reason. I mean, if you and I were in a line moving towards what we knew were gas chambers, I’d rather have a go at taking one of the guards with me; but they [the Jews] were always submissive.”

2) “I am certainly anti-Israel, and I have become anti-Semitic.”

3) In book review written by Dahl in the periodical “Literary Review,” he referred to “those powerful American Jewish bankers” and accused the United States Government of being “utterly dominated by the great Jewish financial institutions over there.”

4) The Israeli military activity in Lebanon, he said, “was very much hushed up in the newspapers because they are primarily Jewish-owned … there aren’t any non-Jewish publishers anywhere.”

5) When further discussing the Lebanon War, he wrote: “makes one wonder in the end what sort of people these Israelis are. It is like the good old Hitler and Himmler times all over again.”
