My family's Covid diagnosis shows how our broken, confusing system exploits privilege The only way we can get through this is if we have a system that works for everyone. And after having Covid-19, I'm convinced that we do not.
By the time you finish reading this, at the rate we're at right now, about 10 people in the United States will have died of Covid-19. To date, over 14.7 million have tested positive for the coronavirus. You can now add me, my husband and our three children to that massive number. Despite our country's best efforts to "do the right thing," the number continues to rise. But what is doing the right thing, really?
That's something I've been grappling with since my husband tested positive the day before Thanksgiving. He woke up with a headache and a minor sore throat. Normally, we'd have chalked those symptoms up to a hangover or just general malaise. But given the situation, we decided to get him tested.
Masked up, I joined him for a complicated and confusing tele-doc appointment. After a long wait, we were tested at an urgent care clinic. His rapid test came back positive. We weren't naive enough to think driving home with my head out the window with two masks on would stop me from getting it, too. If he had it, I knew that meant I did or soon would. So we needed to figure out the next two weeks quickly.

She didn’t name Trump by name, but there’s still time.
In other news, Stephanie Rhule, her husband and three children were found in their home today, pre-deceased.
They were wearing masks.
As we learned more the guidelines changes.
I know I will be attacked for this, but it has pretty much the same survival rate as any other seasonal flu if you are not elderly or have other health issues.
When will the madness end?
Yeah and Wilson was to blame for the 1919 Flu, and Obama sure got blamed for that H1N1 epidemic, didn’t he? What a pile it is when the cultural leaders blame the President for all the ills, even imagined and false flag ones. UGLY!
Or maybe a seasonal cold/flu? Guess what? You get infected with a coronavirus everytime you catch a cold! Unless you're in a particularly susceptible demographic, you'll be fine in a week.
The whole it’s the flu thing.
It’s way less bad than the flu.
Annual death rate for 2020 is basically the same as all recent years.
Not many flu deaths. Not many pneumonia deaths. Heart trouble deaths are down. But those decreased deaths have been very neatly replaced by the number of “COVID” deaths. And it all balances out.
Weird, huh?
I say it’s the flu, bro. And I say masks clearly aren’t making a difference.

She doesn’t understand the implications of her own comment.
The lockdowns are a man-made disaster.
Then she wouldn't be able to be a victim.
I don’t even know who she is, so I guess I don’t care what she thinks.
What I got out of this:
“My whole family got it. We’re fine”.
What a drama queen she is
It is not the flu - it is a cold-life coronavirus.
It is not way less bad than the flu if you are vulnerable. It apparently can cause permanent lung damage. Colds and flu do not do that.
I read the whole article, and it was hard to find her point, other than, “Some people are better able to deal with this than others, some things are confusing, rules and recommendations keep changing, and some people screw-up.” We already knew all of that.
.. there is no comprehensive national containment plan.
She cites South Korea as a model, but their new cases are also way up, about 900% higher than their summer lows. However, SK has never had more than nine covid deaths in a day, so something about either their treatment or their genetics/physiology is giving them a very high survival rate
You cannot contain a virus! Why can’t these idiots get this through their thick skulls? The best you can do is quarantine the sick and vulnerable. This whole idea of hiding from a virus is ridiculous on its face.
