Pfizer chairman: We're not sure if someone can transmit virus after vaccination
Pfizer chairman Albert Bourla told Dateline host Lester Holt that the pharmaceutical company was “not certain” if the vaccine prevented the coronavirus from being transmitted, saying, “This is something that needs to be examined.”
In a prime-time special titled “Race for a Vaccine” set to air Thursday, Holt questioned Bourla and other individuals involved in the development and distribution of the medicine.
In November, Pfizer announced that its vaccine candidate had been shown to be more than 90 percent effective at preventing COVID-19 and has applied for emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

In a list of interview highlights released before the special, Holt asked Bourla, “Even though I’ve had the protection, am I still able to transmit it to other people?”
“I think this is something that needs to be examined. We are not certain about that right now with what we know,” Bourla responded.
Though Pfizer’s vaccine has shown promising results, challenges have surfaced when it comes to distributing and administering it. The vaccine must be delivered and stored in extreme sub-zero temperatures, which has heightened the demand for dry ice.
Once the vaccine is kept at normal refrigeration temperatures, it must be used within four or five days or be discarded. The vaccine is administered in two doses spaced a few weeks apart.

Sounds like the vaccine business is the greatest form of legalized theft out there.
Get billions in government subsidies, get total immunity from lawsuits that no one has, and never have to verify that your product actually does what you claim it will do.
What a scam.
If the current virus impacted younger people, even if putting them out of action for a few weeks, being highly contageous it would be a heck of a weapon.
‘Of course the 10% would still be able to pass the virus if the vaccine didn’t work for them. Naturally.
My point is this: If they are unsure the vaccination will prevent you from getting it , then it must also be uncertain if you can transmit it even having taken the vaccine and not contracting the virus. It’s just a question of probabilities just like everything else in science.
So, just get the vaccine like we say and you’ll have nothing to worry about. /s
Salk didn’t break polio. Hygiene and access to better water etc did. It was trending down before the vaccine already and after it started trending up again.
Is there a time between steps 2 and 3 where enough viruses have reproduced that there is a chance to spread it? Since we don't know what viral load is minimum for contagion and there probably weren't enough blood tests of the vaccine testers to track the virus count from infection to cure - and that's only if some were intentionally infected at a specific time - there is no way to know yet if the vaccinated can spread the disease.
The Pfizer chairman is acting responsibly with a lack of knowledge.
Do you have to be tested before you get the vaccine? Doesn’t make sense to give it to someone that has the virus since vaccines are preventatives, not cures. Read the article but it doesn’t say anything about this. Maybe I just don’t understand how vaccines work? Sorry to sound clueless but would appreciate some help here:)
So the vaccine will create an army of Typhoid Marys?
Give me the disease. It’s safer than the vaccine.
Thalidomide would be approved in a short trial like this one. It takes years to determine all the side effects of a new drug.
Social distancing, masks still necessary after getting COVID-19 vaccine: Fauci (11.15.20)
I remember Trump bragging about making experimental drugs available to people who are dying which I regard as reasonable.
But regardless that Trump has been bragging about COVID-19 vaccine being made available in record breaking time, the doubts being expressed by medical experts concerning efficacy of vaccine lead me to conclude that it is still experimental, and that only high-risk people should take vaccine in my non-medical opinion.
Insights welcome.
In the meanwhile, it’s follow the money, the lucrative government vaccine contracts.

What matters is that the gov’t forces you to get the vaccine and you must have this vaccine record card or you will not be able to travel or work without it. You must present it at the request of the police at all times except when you are protesting....

I don't think that can be answered with any authority at this point, again...because there is a lack of data due to a lack to time studying it in humans.
Regarding the flu vaccine, most health professionals ask if your currently sick with certain symptoms before administering the shot because they generally don't want to stress your already stressed immune system. If you've had it, but are over it, they will generally administer the shot with the thinking that...since the flu vaccine can protect against several strains, it still might be beneficial.
Another question regarding this vaccine (Pfizer's) would be...since this vaccine requires 2 shots, how precise of a timeline do those shots need to be given?
We're told they need to be given a few weeks apart. That doesn't sound very precise.
Many patients are notorious for not taking their medication/shots/treatment properly.
What if someone gets the shot a few days after the optimal time? Do they have partial immunity? What does that look like in terms of disease prevention? Do they need a 3rd shot? What is the safety profile of a 3rd shot, if any? Or, would they have to go with whatever partial immunity they may have and wait X number of months before starting all over?
Another question...since this vaccine has very specific storage requirements that are difficult for most places that would be administering it, we're told this vaccine must be used within 4 or 5 days once kept at "normal refrigeration" temperatures.
Again, that's not very specific.
Have they run trials and studied what happens if many people are given a 1st dose vaccine that's been refrigerated for 5 days...but then comes back in a few weeks and is given a vaccine that is recently brought out of deep freeze and refrigerated for less than a day? Meaning, their 1st dose was not fresh and their 2nd dose was. How about the reverse of that scenario?
Bwa ha ha ha ha ha !
Screw your stupid vaccine !!
Thank you so much for your informative reply. There is certainly a lot to consider. I intend to wait before I consider getting the vaccine even though at age 71 I’m considered at risk to some extent. There is just too much uncertainty at this point.

I see a business opportunity
Everyone just needs to hold their breath for 3 months and the problem will solve itself.
Aaah. But for everything other than voting you'll need your vaccination card comrade.
We still have “flu deaths” with a flu vaccine widely available and handed out for free.
Some vaccines such as rabies and the experimental HIV vaccines were given to the infected, as a means to assist the immune system in fighting a current infection. The experimental HIV vaccines didn’t work however. The rabies ones do.
And don't you dare take that filthy mask off!
