Iowa board certifies 6-vote Republican win in US House race

Iowa officials on Monday certified a Republican candidate as the winner by six votes of an open seat in the U.S. House, in what is shaping up to be the closest congressional election in decades.

Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks finished ahead of Democrat Rita Hart in Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District after a recount saw her 47-vote lead steadily dwindle to single digits.

The state Board of Canvass voted 5-0 Monday afternoon to certify Miller-Meeks as the winner over Hart by a count of 196,964 to 196,958.

The board, which includes Gov. Kim Reynolds and four other state elected officials, also certified President Donald Trump as the winner of the state’s six electoral votes. The board is made up of three Republicans and two Democrats.

If it withstands expected legal challenges, Miller-Meeks’ margin of victory would amount to the closest U.S. House race since 1984 and the tightest in Iowa since 1916.

I think this makes a clean sweep for the toss up seats since the one in New York 22 was clearly stolen

Currently 222 D’s to 206 R’s.

Start melting, WITCH! You are DOOMED! :)

If this and Tenney’s race in NY hold up against any additional Dei theft via courts or Pelosi the House should end up 222 D to 213 R. The other ‘uncalled’ seats have sizeable GOP leads, although not as large as Tenney’s pre-theft. Of course if Trump pulls this off, is able to capture his own DOJ and apply it there may be late additional GOP flips.

Not most Iowans, but this district includes Johnson County and thus U of Iowa. Dems won 3/4 of its votes and the county produced only 9k fewer votes than the 35k larger population Scott County. The last time Johnson had a ‘GOP’ Rep it was Jim Leach. The remaining Dem Rep from Iowa includes Polk County (Des Moines) which is probably our next most liberal county as well as our most populous. However that district might have been competitive with a stronger GOP candidate.

Luckily she ran BEFORE half of the conservatives decided to TEACH THE GOP A LESSON by sitting out elections, as they plan to do in Georgia.

Otherwise, she would have been TROUNCED. (and those same non-voters would be bitching about that)

Sean Parnell is still contesting.

Thanks for the ‘on the ground’ reports. Looking hopeful!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - President Trump has done more for we Conservatives (I’ll NEVER call myself a Republican - haven’t for years!) than we can ever thank him for.

If, and it’s a BIG IF, he fails in his attempt to keep the Presidency, he has left us a great jumping off point to repair our Republic. Granted, we’ll never SAVE it, but we can continue to slow down Her demise. :(

No, it’s not over! Today was the last day the Democrat could have filed suit in Iowa, but she has chosen to go to what is called the Committee on House Administration to try to overturn the results. The committee is something 6 to 3 Democrat to Republican.

On his radio show, Simon Conway said Iowans need to contact that rat Rita Hart and tell her NO! This is outrageous.
