But it’s funny how the poverty never quite trickles to the very top.

Ah, comes to mind the famous quote by Einstein, I believe was: “Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.”
But then again, we all know that liberalism is a mental disease.

Unfortunately he is right on the money. Prosperity always has a trickle down effect, as the ones with the money most always provide jobs for he ones less privileged but not the other way around.

“It needs to evolve,” he said of the current state of capitalism I think the problem is that it HAS been evolving. It shouldn't.
Basic marketplace economics. Supply and demand. You want to sell and I want to buy. We both need to feel that the deal is good for us. We have choices. The seller stays in business if there is some profit. The buyer comes back if the deal was fair.
None of this is hard.
But, you start getting government involved, and lawyers, people start worrying about social responsibility, and taking care of this, and taking care of that, and pretty soon it evolves into a collectivist nightmare, either socialism or fascism (not every different).

Many years ago I worked as a go fer at a parts store. One of our regular customers was the local go to guy when it came to German cars. We nicknamed him Sputnik because years earlier he his wife and then newborn son escaped E Berlin just as the wall was going up. If socialism is such an ideal utopian paradise of sunshine lollipops and everything wonderful why was that damn wall built in the first place? Just an example of how socialism, no matter how its repackaged and marketed to each passing generation of useful idiots inevitably degenerates into dictatorship.
Similar to the way the same old sleazy get rich quick scams are pushed as new ways to achieve instant wealth. Like buying real estate with no $$$ down. How any shcmuck can make a killing in stocks regardless of market conditions. Or that PITA acquaintance who tries to get you involved in his latest hustle, investing thousands in the latest snake oil or some other overpriced crap while building a downline or some other unworkable mathematically impossible MLM/pyramid racket. They'll tell you other systems failed because they were implemented wrong but they have a proven system that works. Those 4 deadly words THIS TIME IT'S DIFFERENT. And like the hippies before them so many millennials fall for this crap like so many brainwashed little puppies.

Who'd've thought their CEO had some common sense?
Wait till his Leftist customers find out.

Awww those misguided Dems and Progs. They just need to understand how ineffective their programs are. They don’t understand the consequences of their ideology. But golly gee as a big government compassionate conservative I know how to fix capitalism.
Pardon me if I do t see a big difference. Maniacal Messiah complexes run deep on both sides.

So we get socialism full bore with the Democrats. it fails. And then what? We cannot return to a Constitutional Republic once we have goon swimming in the socialist lake. Once the Constitution has been undone it can only b e replaced by other versions of authoritarianism. We do not have a population able to reinstate what the Founding Fathers left us.

Not as much fun to shop at Whole Foods since the Amazon takeover, they got rid of a lot items that don't fit the Amazon model. It's pricey, but good for fresh produce and fruit , so not too bad if you like to cook for yourself.
The CEO is an interesting character. A bit of a corporate raider but seems to actually care about his employees. I recall that some years ago he only took $1 as his annual salary when they were going through some hard times.
