Chief Justice Roberts sided with the court's liberals in the dissenting opinion
he U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday night blocked New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo from reimposing strict attendance caps at worship services in areas hit hard by the novel coronavirus.
The court voted 5-4 to bar Cuomo from enforcing his Oct. 6 “Cluster Initiative” against houses of worship that sued to challenge the restrictions.

What has just come to pass on this case is prolog for what is about to happen during the rest of the election.
The court will have to split 5/4 repeatedly in order to give cover for the riots, the city burning, and the murders that antifa and black lives matter intend to inflict on the nation.

I actually think the opposite. It will have to be a significant majority so it can't be portrayed as a political decision. That's the only chance of avoiding large scale rioting if the ferals don't get their way. Also bear in mind that the Justices are certainly aware that the fate of SCOTUS itself hangs in the balance. If Biden wins, their power will potentially be dramatically diminished through his court packing scheme. If there's any wiggle room at all, they are not likely to rule in a way that could adversely affect their own standing and power.
I hope you are right. I can actually see it 7-2. Roberts being forced to rule with Trump, for the reasons you state (his power) and Breyer was part of a 7-2 in Bush v Gore. Stevens and Ginzburg were the 3 for Gore. I think “Unwise Latina” and Kagan will side with Biden. Now that we are starting to have cases file, this is no longer idle speculation

I would make the suggestion...that if the Church restrictions made ‘sense’ or seemed logical, then the same could be applied to all legislative branches of federal and state government.
