Lara Trump considering 2022 Senate bid in North Carolina
Washington Examiner ^ | 11/19/20 | David Drucker

President Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump is considering a run for Senate in 2022 in her native North Carolina for a seat that will open with the retirement of Republican Sen. Richard Burr.

The contest could attract several Republicans because they do not have to challenge an incumbent and because the expectation is that the general election would be easier to win with President-elect Joe Biden in the White House. But if the president continues to carry weight with GOP primary voters in North Carolina in his post-presidency, Lara Trump could enter the Senate race as a top candidate.

She'd be the first carpetbagger since Reconstruction Days.

No, it is more common than that.

But a bad move, especially in the midst of what’s going on.

Speculation about a future in electoral politics regarding the president’s children has centered on Donald Trump Jr., his oldest son, but with five young children, it is unclear if he would throw his hat into the ring in the immediate future.

The five kids are with their mother. I doubt that would keep him from running for office somewhere.

I’m concerned with 2020, not 2022.

Of all the Trump in-law kids. She would be good. Attractive and charismatic.

Born and raised in NC, graduated from NC State. Carpetbagger seems a bit harsh. I guess once you leave, you are not welcomed back? Or is it because she married a "Yankee", she ain't Southern?

With President Trump’s impending victory for 2020, it will be great to see other family members to run for offices in 2022 and 2024. We could have not just a President Trump but Governor Trump and Senator Trump all leading to another President Trump in 2028.

Moving back solely to run for office meets the carpetbagger criteria. Lynn Cheney did the same in Wyoming.

She’s native of the state, and NSCU graduate. She’s an attractive, intelligent young woman. It’s not my state, but I don’t have a problem with her running. If she gets the GOP nod, the Trump name will be a lightning rod and any Dem opponent will use it as fundraising tool for liberal donors nationwide. On the other hand, we’re at a point where every battleground Senate seat is the subject of a fundraising avalanche anyway, so not sure that the lightning rod status will be much of a burden.

She’s articulate, informed, conservative and attractive which is more than I can say about 90% of the other pathetic, lazy, stupid jerks in Congress.

I agree entirely. 2022 won’t matter if we don’t win now.

I confess...I do not mind a Trump dynasty. America First!
Make America Great Again!! First president to fight globalism.

Best president evah!

Accomplished 3 times more in 4 years than Reagan did in 8. Reagan helped China get into WTO. Very bad strategic mistake.
