Gov. Kay Ivey has announced her intentions regarding keeping Alabama.
“I will not shut down businesses; the business community certainly has my support,” Ivey wrote on Twitter. “As I’ve said many times, you cannot have a life without a livelihood.”
Ivey has gradually lessened restrictions since the first Stay at Home order she issued for April. Most recently, her Safer at Home order removed capacity limits for businesses so long as social distancing and mask guidelines are followed.
Ivey also stated when she extended the state Mask mandate through Dec. 5 that she did not anticipate extending it past that date as she felt it was time to let it become a matter of personal responsibility not government mandate.
Forgot to click the “ABOVE IS AN EXCERPT” box.
Governor Maw Maw is starting to wise up. . . ‘bout time
She surprised me...I thought that she would at least continue the regulations that were presently in place. Good for her.
Good. Here in my Alabama county, they’re basically treating it as a ‘clothing optional’ request and not saying anything to anybody for not wearing one. People are so sick of this crap. The real fun will begin when the likes of DeBlasio and Gruesome are blatantly defied by the masses. I wanna see how many cops actually respond then they’re ordered to go door to door to shut down businesses.
Ping to the state list.
I confess, I have not yet read the article. I would like to know when I can freely, without fear of reprisal, go back to worship in church. I also would like to not have them attempt to make me wear a face diaper.
Kinda strict here in T Town, but then we have that Dem Maddox as a mayor.
I’m not sure where you are in Alabama, but in Huntsville, we have been able to go to church for a while without the mask.
The need for the masks at church, as I understand the current edict, is that it is up to the individual churches to decide. My church recommends, but doesn’t require, masks. The congregation is about 50/50 prior to the service, and most remove the mask during singing.
Auburn. AFAIK, my church still restricts worship attendees.
Mine does as well, but we are at about 75% capacity.
My church is running double services and seeks to accommodate both maskers and non-maskers by designating the early crowd as mask-only. That’s in addition to an on-line option that streamers can use.
The congregation seems about split at 33% for the masked service, 40% non-masked, and the rest on line.
Or people having T’giving or Christmas.
We have live worship services...and I don’t wear one. A little hard to play sax and flute through a mask in ensemble. Some members do. Their preference...especially if elderly.
We have to sign in at the door just in case someone comes down with it and we have to be notified.
Gradually....our congregation has increased in #s.
She has extended it, but outside of businesses that require you wear the mask, our local Walmart does not require it any longer, no one is wearing the damned things. We don’t and we wear it to church, but once we sit down, nearly everyone takes them off and then puts them on as we exit and meet people as we come and go from church. Same thing in our Sunday School class. Good going by her. We SIMPLY CANNOT SHUT DOWN AGAIN!!! The nation will utterly collapse if we do. Biden’s mafia is going to try to shut the nation down and under threat of withholding federal funds if we don’t. They will pull every Nixon dirty trick to shut down the nation and destroy our economy and give it to the Commie Red Chinese, Biden’s masters. He is a Red Chinese agent in my book, both him and his lousy, druggie using, thief and fool of a son.
You sound like me. It would really be nice to get back physically to church...although we do watch it streaming on Sunday. I’m wondering after the face diaper restriction goes, can individual businesses still make you wear one? Anybody know the answer to that?
We are not required to wear a mask in church. The governor’s mask mandate is a recommendation to churches.
Where I worship, the Jordan Park Church of Christ in Huntsville, Alabama, we do not require masks. We are fortunate enough to have enough room for those who want to sit in the sanctuary and maintain social distancing.
We also provide a balcony are for “Mask Only”, and large classroom for “masks only” for older members and those who are not comfortable with those without a mask.
We have full singing and services. Our only limitation right now is we are not doing adult classes in classrooms to limit adult close contact. We have 1 large class in our sanctuary.
Ivey actually extended it to Dec. 11, not Dec. 08. And after reading several articles I’m not seeing where she said she didn’t anticipate extending it beyond that date (although she did say it couldn’t go on indefinitely). But maybe she said that in her spoken remarks and it just didn’t get quoted in the articles. I do notice that she’s now tying the mandate to the flu season saying COVID plus the flu is a potentially deadly combo.
“Ivey also stated when she extended the state Mask mandate through Dec. 5 that she did not anticipate extending it past that date as she felt it was time to let it become a matter of personal responsibility not government mandate.”
Where did she say that?
