AOC Says She Might Quit Politics as Dems Pin Losses on Progressives & Top Black Lawmaker Says Defund Police was a Disaster

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez blamed 'Republican narratives' for tearing Democrats apart as she revealed over the weekend she considered not running for reelection due to in-house fighting between the progressive and establishment arms of the Party. When asked by The NY Times if she would consider running for the Senate if Biden's administration ended up being too 'hostile' toward progressive causes, she said, 'I genuinely don't know. I don't even know if I want to be in politics. You know, for real, in the first six months of my term, I didn't even know if I was going to run for re-election this year.' House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was confident going into Tuesday's election that the Democrat-controlled lower chamber would be able to pick up a dozen more seats to widen their majority. Instead, Republicans were able to close the gap by so far gaining a net 8 seats, including beating incumbent Democrats and flipping several blue districts red. Although they still hold a minority, the margin is much slimmer, creating a more powerful GOP caucus in the House.

'Republicans levied very effective rhetorical attacks against our party,' Ocasio-Cortez told CNN's Jake Tapper during an interview on 'State of the Union' Sunday morning. Many establishment Democrats blamed progressive lawmakers for this loss, mainly Ocasio-Cortez and her 'squad,' which includes Reps. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan; Ilhan Omar of Minnesota; and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts.

“...me just going off trying to start a homestead somewhere —”

Now that would make great “Reality” TV!

AOC is definitely set at “burn-out” level. She has been doing a real number on Nancy Pelosi, and I hope they both flame out before 2022.

Probably figuring out it takes years of work to really get your grift on and is hoping to get in the msm. No thinking involved, just blah blah blah which she excels at.

oh.... I bet she and her little socialist india boyfriend are being investigated by the fed’s -— I bet they are finding stuff and he’s the target and she may be used as a witness, a turn-coat — to save her own skin ... things that go on in the background...

... perhaps she should have kept her mouth shut and poured the drinks!

AOC threatened sitting judges. She cannot be allowed to get away with that.

Yes, and maybe it’s better there are not term limits on some of these lifers because how many more would our tax dollars be paying for otherwise? Eh?! Win/Lose situation for us poor citizens either way.

I wonder if also that there are one or a couple of wealthy interests who were the ones really behind her and are seeing that she is becoming something of yesterday’s news. One thing I think about is that one of the Republican newcomers to the House is a 25 year old woman who will now be the youngest member.

[[[She’s gotten bored with this game. She’s no longer the unopposed star sensation she was in her own party, she has suddenly understood that professional politics is a pretty complex game, and she’s lost interest in it. I honestly can see her moving on to something else.]]]

+1. Typical, “everyone gets a trophy generation”

That’s very possible.

I hope our 25 year old is better than their 25 year old!

Yes, and with no work involved.

Prior to her political debut, she’d never done anything but some bartender or part time gigs, and she’s finding that even staying alive in corrupt Dem politics is a lot of work.

Poor baby. She sounds like she’s lost a lot of interest in politics now that SHE is the target of the political rhetoric.

Kudos to the GOP for one thing in this election: making “Democrats want to defund the police!” their version of “Republicans want to take away your Social Security!”

New York’s legislature is dominated by Democrats. Why would they redistrict the state in a way that they lose a DEMOCRATIC seat?

The chance that AOC will leave is the same as a pig voluntarily abandoning a feeding trough.

Congress is the biggest tip jar she has ever fingered,

The answer is not that simple. After 5 years, she would get something at age 62. No one gets anything before age 50.

Under both CSRS and FERS, Members of Congress are eligible for a pension at the age of 62 if they have completed at least five years of service. Members are eligible for a pension at age 50 if they have completed 20 years of service, or at any age after completing 25 years of service.
