Republican Sen. Mitt Romney on Sunday called for the country to "get behind" President-elect Joe Biden and said he has seen no evidence of widespread voter fraud, even as President Donald Trump has pushed for election-related lawsuits and refused to concede the election.
"I think we get behind the new president, unless for some reason that's overturned, we get behind the new president and wish him the very best," Romney, who was the 2012 Republican presidential nominee, told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union."
While CNN and other networks projected Saturday that Biden will become the 46th President of the United States and Kamala Harris will become vice president, Trump has pushed his attorneys to pursue legal challenges that would delay formal certification of the results. And as his path to reelection narrowed, the President pushed baseless claims of voter fraud -- claims Romney cast doubt on Sunday.
"I do believe, however, that it's destructive to the cause of democracy to suggest widespread fraud or corruption. There's just no evidence of that at this stage. And I think it's important for us to recognize that the world is watching," Romney said.

I mean Trump let Mittens out on a long lead line: at the Jean Georges "confere confrere" all-you-can-defeat dinner at TrumpNY, Romney had 'plans for Iran', 'plans for Ukraine', 'plans for Africa', maybe not so many plans to 'control China'; but none of it mattered because Trump was NEVER giving him ANY position, and Romney cannot live it down that he was punked that HARD by our beloved President Trump,.

I think Romney doesn’t know what actually happened in this election. He hasn’t done any research on this subject and he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He should stop talking and direct his staff to start investigating the numbers.
Like a lot of very successful conservatives with very high incomes, he’s overoptimistic and overconfident about everything working out well for the USA and the average American. He also knows that if the country ends up under the rule of a corrupt socialist machine and the health care system goes into a steep decline, he can afford to fly to Switzerland to get high-quality health care.
So Romney should stop making uninformed statements about the election and start digging into the numbers. He’s a financial wizard so he should be really good at understanding all the evidence of vote fraud that’s in the numbers, such as the mysterious, unprecedented 90% turnout in Wisconsin on Tuesday.
