Longtime Black Democratic congressional leaders Reps. Maxine Waters and James Clyburn are troubled by the possibility that more Black voters could reelect President Donald Trump for a second term.
"I don't even know where any Blacks would be coming from that would be voting for Trump," Waters, D-Calif., said in a Friday interview with SiriusXM's Joe Madison. It just hurts me so bad to see Blacks talking about supporting Trump."
While Black Republican voters have always been around, Black voters, especially Black men, appear to be stepping closer to conservative principles. The stamp of approval from some famous, wealthy rappers, such as Ice Cube, Lil Wayne and 50 Cent, has pushed talk of Black conservatism and Black class priorities back into the national conversation.
Those individuals are only thinking about themselves and not the Black community as a whole, Waters and Clyburn, D-S.C., say. A vote for Trump would be a vote against themselves and their better interests, the politicians said in separate interviews over the weekend.
Trump has engaged in divisiveness and racial dog-whistling to the right wing and to white supremacists who are emboldened by his rhetoric, according to Waters.
It's imperative for Black voters to uplift former vice president Joe Biden and vote Democratic as they usually do, Waters said, if Trump is to be ousted from the White House.
But the hold that the Democratic Party has had over Black voters might be loosening, making it harder for Biden to grasp victory.
Black women are more likely than Black men to vote Democrat, according to the Pew Research Center. The gap between Black women and Black men identifying as Democrats in 2018 and 2019 was the widest to date.

Who the hell died and made her queen, who cares, she can keep her damned forgiveness.
Yeah. That will put black men on notice! They will listen to a nagging hag every time.
Im not going to act self righteous or morally superior.
If my fellow Americans vote destroy my nation, it is unlikely I will forgive them either.
I will never forgive black men for keeping me in my million dollar estate while you and your family struggle to make ends meet

Waters lives in a $6M mansion. She got rich, her constituents got poor.
Maxine Waters - trying to keep the black vote on the democratic plantation. Sit down, shut up, do as your told - or else you get the whip again. Maybe only a tongue lashing, but then again with blm and antifa thugs running around on cue, maybe very real danger for people who don’t toe the line and listen to their self-appointed masters.
Her picture should be in the dictionary next to two words, ugly and racist.
The lady is being racist. A person is a person, who can think for themselves. If they decide to vote R or D or whatever, after reflection and thinking, that is their own choice. To deny them that right to think just because of their race is “racist”
In my opinion many Americans who happen to be black are more conservative - they are religious and they value families (as they can see the devastation that anti-conservative laws and welfare have wrought on the black family)
The only thing is how to convince them that the D propaganda that R is a racist party is false.
As Waters looks out of her 6 million dollar mansion down upon the killing fields of South LA.
I find it astonishing that a major question in the media and even on CSPAN continues to be:
“What has Trump done for Black people?”
Well... Am I insensitive? Am I racist? Is Trump? What has he done for Jews, Gypsies, or Asians? What has he done for people from Kansas? What has he done for native Norwegians? For Haitians? For Carribbean Americans?
One lady I was just listening to said “Trump ain’t done NOTHING for me. My life is still the same.” Well, what should he have done?
What is Trump supposed to “do” for blacks, specifically?
Does anyone ever ask that question?
Being black is to not be American. The citizens of color who refuse to be black are thus Americans. By definition black is unamerican. Black is a progressive political construct
How is Collins, her opponent, doing? He had a great political ad.
I don’t think Frederick Douglas and possibly MLK would approve of Waters and Clyburn.
I wonder how many black men she flipped to Republicans with that remark?
Ask yourself: WHY is Mad Max the head of the Banking Committee in the House, when her husband owns banks—and has a very checkered past with his banking practices???
Seems a conflict of interest to me...a serious conflict.
I think the Biden “You Ain’t Black” comment was a game-changer.
