SEAL Team Six rescued an American citizen who was abducted in Niger last week during a high-risk military raid in nearby Nigeria on Friday night.
ABC News reports that Philip Walton, 27, was captured by abductors in Niger on Oct. 26, according to counterterrorism officials. Walton, his wife and a young daughter live in a small village close to the Nigerien border. Walton was reportedly kidnapped from his backyard on Monday after his assailants demanded he hand over money.
According to U.S. and Nigerian officials, the captors were believed to have belonged to an armed group from Nigeria. While the group is not believed to be connected to terrorism, many hostages are ultimately sold to terrorist groups.
During the rescue mission carried out by SEAL Team Six, all but one of Walton's seven captors were killed.
"They were all dead before they knew what happened," a counterterrorism source told ABC News.
President Trump celebrated the safe return of the American citizen and the courageousness of the soldier who brought him home.
Last night, our Countrys brave warriors rescued an American hostage in Nigeria. Our Nation salutes the courageous soldiers behind the daring nighttime rescue operation and celebrates the safe return of yet another American citizen! Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 31, 2020
Many have heard about the elite SEAL Team Six following the successful raid in 2011 to take out terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden. It was later revealed that then-Vice President Joe Biden opposed the raid, having told Obama "don't go." Biden similarly opposed the successful airstrike that killed Iranian terrorist Qassem Soleimani in 2019.
The Washington Post revealed in 2012 that unclassified documents recovered from bin Laden's compound outlined a plan the terrorist had considered to assassinate then-President Obama. After Obama's assassination, bin Laden believed, a "totally unprepared" Joe Biden would assume the presidency and plunge America "into a crisis."
Voters now have the chance on Tuesday to carry out bin Laden's plan by electing Joe Biden president.
...and the courageousness of the soldiers who brought him home.
Isnt it just called courage?
Is is an old Indian trick. In this case, left someone to relate how the other 6 all had their heads blown off in less than 6 seconds.
Love it
Ah, good point!
I’d say they left one alive to track.
He was a missionary in a bad position.
I would have preferred, "They were all dead after several minutes of knowing exactly what was happening."
The one kidnapper not killed may have just been lucky enough to be away, when they strike came, going to the store, or something.

Team America F yeah!
Can someone please explain to me why Philip Walton and his Family live in Nigeria?
I don’t know, Trump maybe figures go in while info is hot and don’t wait like past admins and let trail go cold and enemy bolster their defences. Trump is so anti-whats been done in the past. Or he could been a CIA asset, don’t know but I bet he is glad Trump is in office and not a Democrat
Wrong question
Why did they live in Niger?
What did he do?
Probably both, although in this case it appears their intel is pretty solid (and inexpensive). It is cost effective, we are improving the local economy and getting rid of bad guys. {;^)
Excellent news at the exact right time. And the SEAL team made them pay!!!
I’ll take that question: He & his wife are MISSIONARIES, as are my nephew & his wife.
(KT & Z are ILLEGAL missionaries to RED CHINA’s Christians & they “slip in & out” of China with the ease of water running in a river.)
Our church as had missionaries in Nigeria since about 1820 & ALL of them believe that they are “FULFILLING JESIS’s PLANS”.
FYI, our church has had MANY missionaries KIDNAPPED, ASSAULTED, TORTURED, RAPED & MURDERED, including some who have been CRUCIFIED over the years BUT more missionaries continue to go into danger each year.
(Fwiw, our church had EIGHT missionaries murdered in JUST ONE DAY, several years ago.)
NOTE: Mother was terribly disappointed that I became (after going to OBU, which is ONE of our denomination’s premier missionary training colleges) a career soldier & my younger sister became a schoolteacher, rather than going into the Mission Field. - She finally got her wish with her only grand-nephew & his bride.
