The southern Turkish province of Hatay was rocked by an explosion on Monday in what officials have described as a suspected terror attack.
Video posted to Twitter on Monday purported to show the moments leading up to the explosion. One Twitter account tweeted, “Breaking: this is allegedly footage of a terrorist attack in #iskenderun, Turkey. The terrorist clashed with the police before he detonated a suicide vest bomb.”
In the video, several pops can be heard before a bomb blast can be seen on the sidewalk of a city street.
Anadolu Agency, a state-run Turkish news outlet, also shared video of the aftermath of the bomb blast. The news agency, in a translated tweet, said, “An explosion occurred in the district center of Iskenderun in Hatay, the cause of which has not yet been determined.”
