Hi Everybody!
(((HUGS)))
OH man, what a job, breaking things and blowing up stuff.
Did a lot of work there in the late 80s. Local bar was the Eagles Nest. Good times
The big white dirigible in the picture is no more. In one of the most embarrassing episodes ever the early warning system being tested with tethered dirigibles stuffed full of all kinds of expensive classified equipment the rope broke. The dirigible floated away dragging about a mile of steel cable behind it.
The power at our house blipped off. We were lucky, the cable took down power lines and damaged cars and houses in a path of destruction until it was shot down by Pennsylvania state troopers.
As I recall, no one even knew it was missing until someone called the base to tell them.
My second cousin worked there for decades developing and testing rocket propellants. He was a chemistry genius.
AND I just got in from work, and simultaneously watching Amy Barret’s Swearing in. It’s just starting now I think.
A great day for sure!
Many years ago I pulled into APGround, got quarters in a casual barracks, laid out my matress, started to snooze and was instantly levitated with the most Ungodly noise I’d ever heard. They had fired off the atomic cannon somewhere nearby.
Do they still have the ordnance museum with the rows and rows of foreign and domestic tanks? I still remember seeing a WW 2 German Ferdinand there with a few futile ice-cream-scoop size gouges in its 8” frontal armor...

I once did some work there.
They wouldn’t let me bring in a four-function calculator because it had a memory (which could store one value)!

Bible in a Year:
But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord.
I am one of millions of people worldwide who suffer from SAD (seasonal affective disorder), a type of depression common in places with limited sunlight due to short winter days. When I begin to fear winters frozen curse will never end, Im eager for any evidence that longer days and warmer temperatures are coming.
The first signs of springflowers successfully braving their way through the lingering snowalso powerfully remind me of the way Gods hope can break through even our darkest seasons. The prophet Micah confessed this even while enduring a heart-rending winter as the Israelites turned away from God. As Micah assessed the bleak situation, he lamented that not one upright person seemed to remain (Micah 7:2).
Yet, even though the situation appeared dire, the prophet refused to give up hope. He trusted that God was at work (v. 7)even if, amid the devastation, he couldnt yet see the evidence.
In our dark and sometimes seemingly endless winters, when spring doesnt appear to be breaking through, we face the same struggle as Micah. Will we give into despair? Or will we watch in hope for the Lord? (v. 7).
Our hope in God is never wasted (Romans 5:5). Hes bringing a time with no more winter: a time with no more mourning or pain (Revelation 21:4). Until then, may we rest in Him, confessing, My hope is in you (Psalm 39:7).
Where do you find hope in dark times? In what winter season has God given you the hope you needed?
Heavenly Father, during difficult seasons of life, its easy for me to be discouraged; in those hard times, help me place my hope in You. And in every season of my life, help me share with others the peace found in life with You.
