Redding
Carlos Zapata has a message for any government official who shows up at his Tehama County restaurant and tries to enforce Californias pandemic shutdown orders.
Ive made it very clear that if they come to shut us down, Im going to call 100,000 people thatll be there with guns, and what happens happens, you know? Zapata said Tuesday. Im hoping that theyre not stupid enough to want that kind of a fight over a restaurant being open, but if they want it, well definitely give it to them.
Its not the first time the Red Bluff restaurant owner and U.S. Marine combat veteran has made those kinds of threats. A few weeks ago, he told the Shasta County Board of Supervisors to expect trouble if they enforce Gov. Gavin Newsoms COVID-19 restrictions on local businesses.
Right now, were being peaceful, he said in a short speech that has since made Zapata a celebrity among far-right groups. But its not going to be peaceful much longer.
Just about anywhere else in California, that sort of talk would have been widely condemned. But here, in whats arguably the capital of the State of Jefferson a decades-old movement to break off conservative northern counties from Democrat-controlled California many have shrugged Zapata off as commonplace.

San Diego is lost from the news I see from there. used to be conservative.
Ventura county is a mystery, having lived for 40 years at one time.
The first town mentioned was Redding

A new state of Jefferson was being proposed that consisted of N Cal from Redding to S Oregon Roseburg.
Rural CA and Oregon were fed up with the liberal large cities not representing their rural needs, sounds familiar.
Was gaining a lot of momentum until it got derailed because of WW2.
Santa Clara County is in the “New California”? That’s true only if you split Santa Clara County in two — the metro / Silicon Valley / San Jose / Peninsula part and the agrarian part.
Yup
The final vote was set for Dec. 8,,Monday morning.
If the Japanese had Judy waited 1 day
I’d be a proud and lucky citizen of Jefferson State.

Just wait until the leftist, subhuman filth get to my zipcode.
Because they have been in effective power for 50 years. They have owned the Media and Academia. They have educated two generations of Americans there is no God and the the government should rule the common people because they are the "experts".
Ping to Post #4. You all in, Tubebender? ;)
That about sums it up - brief and to the point.
Zapata is a thorn in CA’s politicians side. LOL!
He called out some old white trash on his local city council for sleeping during a protest of his and said that man was hiding behind his mask.
We need millions more like him who are fed up.
I hope Sunnyvale is in yellow. looks like it might be.
Very, VERY true!
If any area of this entire country deserves to be a state, it is here. A few hours with the locals (including a lot of my family) and one is reminded of the California that gave us Reagan.
“Problem is, the blue part is where I want to live, except for maybe by San Diego. Why does the Left invade and mess up the desirable places to live?”
Because so-called conservatives sit on their fat asses and do nothing to stop it.
Conservatives whine about leftists taking over public schools. Maybe if they showed up at schoolboard meetings and made their demands known, leftists wouldn’t take over schools.
Conservatives whine about leftist cops abusing them. Maybe if conservatives got off their useless, fat asses and elected pro-2nd amendment, conservative sheriffs, leftist cops wouldn’t have the power to abuse citizens and their communities.
This isn’t rocket science.
Shirley and I rented a cabin on Lake Shasta for our honeymoon, in 1974.
They want San Jose? WTH for? They are still part of Silocone implants Valley!
Please go read what the folks at Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association have to say. They are against it.
That’s the one I want to see.
